If you have a job and get long term sick then the maximum number of days with sick pay is 180 (temporarily 365 days because of the pandemic).

After the 180/365 days your ability to work is assessed towards fictitious jobs and many lose their sick pay because of this. The Right-wing Government of 2006-2014 implemented this.

Now the current Government want the assessment to be made toward an actual job position the person has had or could have based on education level and previous experience.

I dont know in exact detail but I remember a big case about 10 years ago where people with terminal cancer who were bed bound were told they could work in a factory or an office.

Thats fair tbh. If you break your leg you probably cant work in a warehouse for quite a while but it wouldnt stop an accountant for long

whereas the warehouse worker would have no hope of getting an accountant job unless they are willing to go back to uni for 3 years

Very well put why it makes sense!

I hope it will pass through Riksdagen.
