If even that much. And the rates would actually go down over time as more get to start puberty blockers and hormones in their youth, plus once they get surgeries they won't need them again.

If we can cover boner pills as a medically acceptable thing for insurance, we have no excuse to not help trans people. Though really, we should drop insurance outright and cover everything through raised tax rates that in turn reduce how much everyone spends on personal medical insurance and bills and whatever isn't normally covered, etc.

This, why stop at just providing for trans people? I want them and everyone else to get the medical procedures they need and would gladly pay additional taxes for it.

If you look at the trans issue as a dysmorphia issue, with a high risk outcome if untreated, and the reassignment as the medical treatment for that, then what we're really asking here is "do you support universal healthcare".

Agreed 10000% It would be nice for the US to catch up with the rest of the developed world on something as basic as health care.

My favorite part of the Bible was when Jesus refused to cure the sick because of their pre existing conditions and inability to pay 4 times the average annual income simply to have a professional assist women the during birthing process.

Dysmorphia is about imagined or exaggerated flaws. Ours are neither of those things. A trans person can also have dysmorphia, but it would be coincidental, not causal.

I admit, I could be wrong here. But I would be surprised if the trans population has dysmorphia at a higher rate than the population at large.

This is not how tax work. And for some reason some form of fuckery is going down in the US where it IS, then it's clearly aimed at othering an already marginalised group in order to frame it so that they become an entire Nation's burden.

But that would be un-American, right?

There aren't that many trans people and if everybody gave a dollar a month that's like $300 million a month.

Edit: I also support universal health care.

cosmetic surgery should be paid out of people's own pockets if they want to get it, with the exception of like severe skin disfiguration from an accident or something

as long as the person in question contributes to society, society should have their back in medical emergencies and long-term illness, but slapping a pair of tits on a dude that identifies as a woman is ultimately treatment for neither and most definitely not the former, even though trans activists often attempt to portray it as such

Sex reassignment is viewed as a medical procedure that factually, evidently reduces suicide rates and other mental illness problems among trans people, it's not like getting a set of lip fillers because you want to be pretty.

This pretty much. There aren't hundreds of millions of people wanting it. If a couple pennies a year goes to making the quality of some folks lives dramatically better, then I'm fine with it. Much larger portions of my taxes go towards the opposite.

NZ needs to get its "normal" healthcare in order before we even start worrying about that. Y'all know how some places healthcare systems have been pushed to the brink of collapse by covid? Ours gets like that every regular flu season.

To be clear, not saying "I'm against it", just that it's lower priority than literally saving lives.
