Employers are only going to hire and pay someone a wage that nets them a profit after paying them.

If you set the floor higher than that they're just not going to hire that person

No lol, this is such an ignorant statement that highlights that the people on Twitter and political ghettos on Reddit complaining about nonsensical shit care far more about punishing those generating higher wealth than they do about providing lower income individuals with employment or the means to provide for themselves and their family.

ya chief, the topic is about businesses not providing the means to provide for themselves or their family.

which just highlights how stupid your post is.

I mean, they should still be allowed to exist. People still need jobs even if they suck. Every time I try to think about a more equitable model it ALWAYS ends up being a work for free model where you get paid in job experience by taking on different roles (kinda Marxist I guess), and then whateveryou get paid is secondary to that model.

There is also the problem of fair pay and what exactly that entails. Most people will be happy to take enough to pay their bills, so that is what we get.

Saying this is like saying "if you can't afford kids you shouldn't have them": true, but not the kind of society we want to aim for in terms of keeping people satisfied. Plus we live in a service economy where the consumer has waaaaaaay more say than the employee. It's structurally set up to be like this and an ought like you are proposing won't be taken seriously with things as they are.

The ability to live in the relatively immediate area of their employment and the ability to reliably provide economic impact/participation in the local area is the minimum of what fair pay is

Ah yes, the way the actual world works, where one person owns everything and everyone else does their bidding for most of their waking hours and lives in poverty. I wonder if the world works that way merely because the few who own everything convinced enough people to be their sycophants. Nah, its probably just nature.

"Fair" in this context is gonna vary between who you ask. Some people will say a fair wage is a wage someone can live a comfortable life off of. Other people will say a fair wage is the economic value you bring to the table.

I'm just explaining how wages realistically work. If you put a floor on wages you're going to eliminate low skill jobs that aren't worth that much to fill.
