But a lot of us have come to the realization that this problem has been festering in the Republican party for far longer than just a few years, and I honestly don't think the Republicans ever deserve to be in power again after what they did. And who they've clearly shown themselves to be. I can't ever risk allowing that kind of insanity to happen again, knowing they were too chickenshit to stand up against it. You really can't be an economic conservative and a social liberal, and somehow use that as justification to be a Republican anymore. But the Trump era really opened my eyes to most of the negative stereotypes being true about most republicans, they just hid it until Trump made it cool, or something. I've been all "Hey my fellow republicans, this doesn't represent us, we have to stand against it!" and almost everyone I know is either, "NO this is the greatest ever, MAGA!" or "Yeah Trump is kind of dumb but hey he's not a democrat, so..." That said I've always liked Mittens and Kasich and this Rep. Kinzinger that came into a bit of prominence more recently seems cool.
