If you dont love beings of perfect love and affection I just feel sorry for you. Dog worship is valid. Dogs are literally called mans best friend for good reason. Theyre absolute perfect companions.

It's not just an USA thing, western countries are very much into dogs. They offer affection to people with weak emotional health. They are kind of a bandage for a deeper society problem.

I don't understand people who act like dogs and farm animals are the same, as if one hadn't been evolving alongside humans for tens of thousands of years as a companion / hunting tool and the other raised exclusively for slaughter.

There's the fact that dogs are one of only a couple of animals on the planet that cause a dopamine / oxytocin feedback loop between it and humans

I can tolerate dogs and would never be mean to one but I'm not crazy about them. They get pretty gross at times and I don't really enjoy them licking or jumping on me.

Also I've found that some people that really love dogs a lot hate cats in a really intense weird way.

Like if you bring up cats they'll be like "oh my god, fuck cats, I hate cats! Let em all die." Or something to that effect. I have lost count of how many times I have encountered this IRL.

I think they end up covering the kid hole until you have a kid. Most everyone I know seemed to baby their dog, then have a kid, and then the dog becomes a dog compared to Mr.Snickerdoodles the spoiled

Dog people have a very strange one sided emotion towards cats. Cat people, in my experience, either like dogs or are indifferent to them. Dog people (unless they are dog and cat people), very often loathe cats and actively disparage them at any chance. It's an extremely odd phenomenon.

I dislike dogs. They are cute but too much energy, and requires too much attention. I don't want to get home and have this creature going absolutely batshit because I, the center of its universe, have returned home and it knows nothing outside of wanting to be near me. So smothering.

I don't hate them or anything, and I would never harm a living creature unless self defending, but I just don't like having them around me.

I hate dogs. loud, obnoxious, smelly, too much work.
cats are cuter, more intelligent and independent, and way more entertaining.

It's because less people are getting married and having kids.

People need to channel their maternal/paternal instincts, and they do it with dogs.

It's why when you go to any major city, most people in their late 20s/early 30s who are unmarried have dogs.
