Watching this cashier testify and this stores policies are suspect as hell.

  1. If the cashier accidentally accepts a fake $20 bill then that employee must pay $20 out of his own paycheck. That cant be legal.
  2. The manager sends the cashier outside to confront the counterfeiter in his car? What? How is that manager not fired?

More as the testimony continues. I cant wait to find out why the cashier was told to go out to the car a second time.

They can just fire you if you refuse to pay the store back. They blame you for taking the funny money. At-will employment. In the days before pre-pay gas pumps they used to make the staff pay for drive-offs with threats of firing.

1) Some states it is if the employee agrees to it in writing. But the employee can absolutely be fired.
2) Did the employee say it was the Manager that told them to go outside? Most places train you NOT to do anything. And I've worked in places where the employee takes it upon themselves to confront a customer (restauraunts and getting stiffed on tips) and the employee usually gets fired right after.

Firing is one thing, but stealing money from an employees check is something else entirely.

Yep. The guy just testified that the manager sent him out to the car to bring Floyd back into the store so they could talk about it.

Look, youve only got so much space in the title to communicate to everyone that it was the store where Floyd passed a fake $20 bill.

Okay I wasn't sure. Yeah, any place you will ever work at tells you to not go after someone if you think they did something. That was stupid and could lead to the employee getting hurt.

This chicken shit manager sent this cashier alone outside, across the street to a strange SUV to bring in a counterfeiter!

Then, when the counterfeiter said no, the manager sent the employee outside a second time to make him come in!

WTF.

Is this one of those cases where employee training states you're "required" to use that forgery marker on every $20+ bill you receive but there isn't enough time to do that if it gets busy, forcing employees to skip the process which is why it's "legal" to make they pay it back because it's employee negligence for not following the policy they're not given enough time to follow?

that sounds more like telling the employee to tell him to come back and not making the employee forcibly stop him

This guy is ridiculous. I can't believe this is one of the people who got george floyd murdered. By the way anyone see the video from inside the store? Its the first time i seen it. And well george floyd seemed calm and happy. He was by counter with a banana and either they said a joke or something funny because george floyd starting laughing a lot. I wanna know why the discrepancy is so huge between the calm inside the store and then all the bad stuff on the outside

Ya, it speaks to how systemically broken we are.
Yes, this goes straight back to workers' rights.
