I've noticed that people don't really carry around those little things like they did a decade or two ago. It's mostly online Cloud storage where people can access anything they want from anywhere, which is much more convenient than relying on a physical stick. Is that the direction we're moving toward? Will everything be digital and invisible in the future?

It's driven them into a smaller niche, but it hasn't made them obsolete altogether. In particular, try reinstalling a corrupted OS without one.

I keep a 64GB flash drive with me at all times with my last 3 years of information: spreadsheets, pictures, budget statements, peripheral work documents, resumes, etc. Some of it has personal information that I'd rather not have on a cloud in case it gets breached. If I lose the flash drive, then that's on me. But I don't have control over what happens to my data in a cloud.
It's convenient to have, especially if I'm at a place with no immediate internet connection (i.e. parks, planes, cars). Then again, I also teach online so I always like to have access to my course materials offline. --- Congratulations! Your post was deemed response-worthy. ... Copied to Clipboard!
