Commodore 1702. Coming in the mail this week. I think it is one of the very best looking CRTs. Sony has a couple others I think have a nice aesthetic, but this one is really gorgeous imo. Gonna be hooking up that s-video to play some Super Famicom :)

There was another one that was about $100 more than this, that had a few less scuffs and scrapes than this one, and had the manual and box. But, the pictures they took of it turned on looked dead and colorless. Whereas this one the ebay poster was smart to put a fucking purple ass Star Trek game as the example, man that looks pretty.

Might have just been camera issues with the other guy, it can be hard to take pictures of a CRT. But it made the difference to get me to choose this one.

My next step is to by spare parts just in case, and then download all the videos and references I can find on this particular model, just in case any of that goes away in the future.

Hell yes. Looks great and in good condition too.

I have a CRT setup in my living room and almost exclusively play retro games.

Those Commodore monitors are supposed to be really good too.

Commodore just had great designs for all their equipment from around that time. But yes I hear performance wise, picture wise, this one is very good.

I used to not see the big deal with CRTs until I actually saw the difference between compsoite and S-video. I had to get one.

Not only that, but the input lag is basically none. If you've played a newer smash bros and go play melee, shits fast and responsive af

It's the console I collect for (well, super famicom now, technically). And I used to not care about CRTs, but then I actually saw what S-video looks like and my mind was blown. But even just composite, CRTs really do look better.

I've always subscribed to retro gaming channels where they would talk about it, but I never really understood until recently.

I would like to hook a PC up to this as well, but from what I understand it isn't just as simple as getting a converter.

This is the Sony one I was thinking of in the OP. I would love one of these. Does yours have RBG connections?

Did you look up the common problems with it? Don't throw it away, it could be something small while your tube itself is just fine.

I was watching CRT videos today and there was this guy who repairs them who hates when people just junk them.

not yet, but i'm definitely not going to toss it. repair it if i can, find someone who can part it out to repair others if i can't.

also, it "broke" once before, but letting it sit unused for a couple months let it work itself out. different problem, but still holding out a little hope it'll revive itself again.

That's wild lmao. These things definitely have some power running through them.

And yes I'm very happy. I've wanted this particular model for a couple years, but I only just took the plunge to get one on a whim.

Yeah, I've been getting into classic anime (90s) for the first time in my life the last couple years, and I want to watch them on this.
