Space is cold but its emptiness so it doesnt really make other stuff cold, stuff just loses heat to it gradually

Maybe the Rig was suitable for short space walks. The rest of the game you're in a temperature controlled environment. In DS3 you spend more time in less hospitable areas.

You don't actually really freeze in space. That's a movie trope and a misconception. The only way you lose heat in space is through radiation and you would eventually freeze but not nearly as quickly as on a freezing planet. Conduction and convection are the methods that are not in space but are on a planet, so while it is technically colder in space, there's only one medium with which you would lose heat.

Actual space suits hold 8 hours of air. They're also pressurized. Think of how water boils at room temperature in vacuum experiments.

That was my legit first thought, one of your goals is to get the arctic survival suit after the crash... however, once you get to any suit upgrade place you can just use the regular suit which by nature of the machine thingy would have been repaired.
