You always hear about the crazy work hours and work ethic in Japan, but are they productive hours? You'd think that the team would have developed like 3 games in the amount of time they they took to make no game in that span of time.

Yeah pretty much, plus that doesn't explain how they seemingly did absolutely nothing during the what, 8 or so years of development for a game that they just decided to turn into a mainline entry? It felt like when a student is doing a project last minute or handing in a term paper that wasn't the assignment.

It might be old news to still harp on this, but SE was/is a pretty notable company, it's not like they were some b-studio tier developer, presence wise.

If I recall wasn't it being "worked on" by the same team that does KH? I'm pretty sure they kept putting it on the back burner.

Oh right I forgot about that. I suppose that's a valid excuse, since looking back they did release those disappointing/crappy KH games during that time like Birth By sleep or the 3ds one that ruined the series indefinitely.

They could have simply not done that and just worked on the game, but KH was guaranteed to sell millions regardless of quality so much as I wish I can't blame them for not working on something untried and untested.
