I just wanted to say that I dont know where this peeing in bottles stuff started. I work in a warehouse and no one here has to do that. We can stop to use the restroom whenever. The only time I could think people might have to do this is when theyre delivering products, which Ive also done, and those jobs are generally 3rd party contractors hired by Amazon. I worked for Amazon but was hired by another company. Even then I could stop to piss, but depending on your route a public location with an open to the public restroom can be hard to find sometimes, so I can see how some resorted to going in a bottle....no one was expected to or made to believe so for fear of discipline though.

  1. Im just speaking from experience and no one I work with has to do this.
  2. I never said no one does it. Im just saying that actually being a part of it and understanding what their expectations are, no one is expected to or needs to pee in a bottle. Unless I happened to work for the one location that is nothing like any other. (Both warehouse and driving).

Amazon set our metrics. Amazon set our routes. At one point, Amazon was loading our vans for us. But we were told over and over again that we were not Amazon employees.

So it is delivery drivers. Like I said I also worked as a delivery driver. Was never told I needed to pee in a bottle or that I cant stop to use the restroom. Its just difficult to find a place sometimes. Sometimes the closest fast food restaurant was like a 10 minute drive off my route and that could throw you off by a lot. If someone couldnt hold it I can see why theyd resort this this, but as long as you were talking breaks properly and not abusing it every day and saying oh I just used the restroom as an excuse they didnt reprimand you for stopping instead of peeing in a bottle.

I must have been one of the lucky ones who worked for the one contractor that didnt care I guess.

and yes, what you quoted is correct. Their drivers are employees of private contractors. You are hired by them, not Amazon. We would drive our trucks to the facility, Amazon workers will have loaded up the bags for Us, we load the bags and then deliver. But all our benefits, hours, sick days, etc came from the company that hired us. Which is normal.

It blows my mind that PR workers for big-name companies continue to post stupid shit like this that's guaranteed to backfire. It's one thing when, like, the developers of "A Hat in Time" acted like jackasses toward people wanting a Switch version. That was a bad look (and turned me off from buying the game, personally), but hey, you can see how a fledgling company would have PR growing pains.

But this is someone from literal Amazon tweeting like a dumbass teenager. WTF? This is right up there with the New York Subway Twitter straight-up announcing that they were getting rid of benches as an anti-homeless measure.
