I've no opinion on the matter. If my wife survives me, it's up to her.

The way I see it is, when your loved one dies, it's just an empty shell that's left behind. Who they were -- that person isn't really there any more. I felt that way after my parents died and I saw their bodies in the chapel of rest.

Aside from funerals, I think my grandma has taken me to visit my grandpa's and great-grandparents graves on occasion. I never knew them though, so I wouldn't go of my own volition. I've had plenty of friends and family die, but no one so close to me that I'd feel the need to visit their grave. There's only a handful of people that close to me and they're all in good health right now.

I've never lived near a gravesite where anyone I knew was buried. I've moved basically every 5 years, or less, my entire life.

My grandfather was buried at the closest national cemetery that was open, which was unfortunately was Riverside National Cemetery near March AFB. At the time I lived in Vista, which was about a 2, 2-1/2 hour drive each way. I tried to get up there as often as I could, but that was just such a long drive I couldn't do it more than twice a year. And then I moved to Nebraska, and visiting is just impossible.

My husband was in the Navy so he was elegible for burial in a national cemetery as well, and there's a big one in Omaha not too far away, but I'd never forgive myself if I had to move away. So I had him cremated instead. Now he sits on a table in my bedroom, next to the urns for one of my horses and one of my dogs. If I ever have to move, I can take them with me.

My sister has a memorial at the crematorium where she was cremated and her ashes were scatted. She died of cancer at 26 so wanted to be cremated rather then people see her body in that state. Still I don't visit the memorial as the crematorium is more about her death then her life and remembering my own memories will mean more to me than a stone in the ground ever will. My younger sister and brother feel the same. My dad however goes up there once a year with his GF and updates me who has been up there and whatnot. My nan was cremated too and I've no idea where her ashes are scatted. My granddad is the only one who has been buried but I wasn't all that close to him. Even more so past childhood.

All of them were cremated. Most are in the back closet, my dad is on the table in the living room with flowers, my uncle is in his house on a table with a rainbow cloth over his box. After we sell his old house, I would hope mom finds another nice place to keep him.

Not since the day they were buried. I don't feel any sort of connection to a place where their corpse was put in the ground to rot.

Only when I am in the area. My grandparents are all buried far away (My mother's side are about an hour away, and my father's side about 8 hours away).

Right now my mom's ashes are sitting on a shelf in my spare bedroom, so I guess I visit that once every couple of days when I go into the room for something or to clean.
