have you played any other xcom games, or do you like strategy-turn-based-games like divinity 2? i think the mario+rabbids game was also an xcom clone, but i havent played it

they're somewhat punishing turn based strategy games but aren't terribly hard to get into, just play on a lower difficulty if everything hurts

xcom is squad based strategy with a very heavy emphasis on line of sight, covering fire, positioning, and destructible environments fucking up those other 3 things. essentially a swat team using guerrilla tactics against aliens with psychic powers and bigger explosives

shit hits the fan very hard in this game but it's actually incredibly exciting and you're expected to take losses. especially 2 with War of the Chosen expansion, enemy heroes will crash into regular encounters

game's also pretty enough and all the animations are cool

Not sure if it'd even be close to what you're looking for but have you checked out Battletech?

XCOM 2 is awesome. Definitely play with Ironman mode on, whatever the difficulty. XCOM is best when every death really hurts, imo.

My only concern would be performance, it doesn't run great on a PS4 so I can't imagine a Switch would be much better. Unless it's one of those titles that's streamed to the system like Control? Not sure if it is.

Unless they've patched it since launch, the game seems to hit below 20fps at times.
They say the load times can be up to a minute long.

i appreciate you adding the video, it looks good enough for a game of its complexity on the switch. not to mention, hearing it runs less glitchy than the bigger systems is a surprise.
