I am finally getting what all the hype has been about. Never expected the voice actor behind Zechs Marquise to make for such a brilliant hammy villain.
The first two parts (I am required by the fandom to use that specific word right?) were amazing, perhaps even a bit short at times.

The third part, somewhat paradoxically, by becoming even more bizarre, it actually became slightly more generic... So much superfluous material that it does feel like it drags quite a bit more. The first half was not as bad, as most of it still felt relevant, the second half is feeling especially fillery, especially for something with an awesome subtitle akin to "9 Egyptians Gods". I must admit, 9 elite mook/monsters of the week was not what I was expecting from it.

Just to be clear, I am thoroughly enjoying Stardust Crusaders, it just feels like the story is moving at a snail's pace, which kinda ruins the time-pressured part of the plot.

Any other watchers/readers/fans of Jojo's around here?

Edit: this show is also making me hate Netflix's practice of putting the "skip outro" button on a timer... (I only ever skip outros or intros when watching stuff with mom on tv, never when watching by myself on PC. Except on tv it never seems to even ask it anymore and on PC it just does without asking if you are not paying attention...)

Part 3 is the weakest part in my view because it has really bad pacing. The plot is bleh too. But its also the most mainstream because it introduced the Stand concept, has a stereotypical badass MC and also had the most iconic villain at his peak power. But really Part 2 is much better, as are all the following parts. Even Part 1 is better despite being very short, because of the story building. After Stardust the Stand concept is improved on a lot and with more complex overall plots.

PS If you watching dub or "official" sub versions you will miss out on a lot of Stand names that get changed because of copyright. The names are based on artists/songs (and later famous fashion designers/houses also).

I know. The audio is not censored/altered so I can still hear them. I do not even remember the sub name of the Oingo Boingo brothers.

Edit: also dub wise, if I was going for Drummond with the Zechs reference, I would probably have gone for Vegeta instead. I meant Koyasu.

Forgot to mention those intros. JoJo's has some of the best intros of any anime I've seen. Granted I don't watch a lot of animes I'm mainly a manga reader. But with JoJo's itself I watched the first 5 parts before reading forward. Usually I read a series first and only if I really like it watch the anime. Most animes don't get it right but JoJo's did. Now I'm going back reading the early parts since they have proper English releases now. Part 3 funnily enough is now getting done on Shonen Jump.

I think I have a new favourite character, at least for the duration of this intro. (For after it will obviously turn out he did not take out "a main character"...)

Edit: no Jojo's, you are not making me feel sad for the worst character with that montage, I am only laughing.

Edit 2: Dio has his own Castlevania like structure to go with the Clock Tower imagery from the intro?

Part 3 is definitely the weakest excluding part 1. Like you said, it suffers from "monster of the week" syndrome, which is worse since I watched it on release, but a lot of the slapstick and general oddity make up for it.

Part 4 is my personal fav.

Netflix only has up to the end of this arc, and my backlog is large enough that I will probably not feel like seeking out the next arc outside of Netflix. It would be quite the large "screw you" if Part 3 does not acceptably resolve its main storyline.

Right now I am also still waiting for the proper explanation as to what Stands actually are and how going from an established absolute naming system, as confirmed by both sides as being absolute, can lead into a separate system of Stands with a different naming basis.

I think the censorship is getting silly. I am pretty sure I heard Kenny G, the episode titles say Vanilla Ice and the subtitles say Cool Ice...

Edit: Now I am also hearing Vanilla Ice, was Kenny G the dude in the wall?

I liked it too. Second part was my favorite but I see why they had to change and introduce stands. There are only so many ways to use hamon.

Fist of the north star was a huge influence hence the super muscled looks and the first 2 parts were hand to hand combat. Also the amount of violence decreases as the series progresses

You won't get the full answer until Part 5. Though the basics have been explained at Part 3 already, it's a type of psychic ability only certain people inherit. The names are just for cool flavour though.

It's only going to get worse unless you watch the unofficial sub version.

No? It gets more violent (and more creative with the bloodshed) as it continues. Part 5 is the most violent part animated so far. And 6 is way more intense than that. Even Part 4 which is more slice of life has some very disturbing scenes. I remember watching it immediately after Part 3 and being shocked at one of the earliest episodes, despite seeing all the crazy stunts pulled in Part 3. I guess it's because the violence isn't as realistic in the early parts, it's over the top but in a non serious way. It's only from Vanilla Ice onwards shit starts getting real.

Just buy the blu ray
it's like a dollar an episode and you get to watch them subtitled
the Eng voice acting is pretty weak and you get all the real names of the stands
like the oingo boingo brothers zenyatta and mondatta named after the 3rd Police album

Yes

Without spoiling the TC please explain to me how Part 5 or further is less violent than Part 3 or 2. Part 5 has the most violent and bloody fights in the series shown on screen so far and they don't even include the main villain of that part.

I suppose I could go back and count every fight and rate the amount of violence but I'm not interested in doing that. Tc can judge for himself and if you disagree with me then it's really whatever.

Exactly. Dunno what that guy is going on about. In Part 2 they could really go over the top with it in terms of limbs and general body horror since we were dealing with nigh invincible beings in the Pillar Men. They could tank tons of damage without being really hurt. Thats what I meant earlier by non serious violence. The violence in Part 5 is more intense and gruesome being that it's against humans who can't tank crazy stuff.

The only thing Part 3 is good for is Jotaro's epic beatdowns with Star Platinum. That other guy mentioned hand to hand combat before I dunno if that's what he meant by more violent. Even then Jotaro doesn't have a monopoly on that stuff. All the MCs have similar close range stands that can deal serious hands. 7 Page Muda from Part 5 says hi.
