Unfortunately it's far, far too late to cut off disinformation. It is fully ingrained in American life now and we have 1 political party that not only thrives on it but actively engages in it. The fact there were 100+ Congressmen who voted against the election all based off a clear and obvious lie that they STILL continue to tease is proof enough of that. Not a single one of those traitorous pieces of shit have so much as apologized for their involvement in a coup attempt based off of said lie. Not a single one.

Gamefaqs isn't the real world, most people don't respect Buzzfeed journalists and especially ones who act like this. Associating "not being a conspiracy theorist" with abusive gaslighting behavior against your elderly family members is a fucking stupid and counterproductive thing to do unless your goal is to post pro Q propaganda by making your side look absolutely abhorrent.

The more I sat and thought about it the more it actually makes me angry, and makes me angry that any of you think this is somehow defensible behavior. Mom/dad being a little kooky is not morally on the same level as humiliating your own family members to advance your 2-bit journalism career. The way he describes treating his elderly mom is straight-up gaslighting and then he publishes it to the public as a guideplan for other people. Utterly sickening.

A) So... first you claim there *must* be more to the story, but don't provide any proof?
B) Then you believe being in a cult to the point where you call your own child a pedophile for not believing you (and are likely abusing your grandchildren) is "just being kooky"? If the mother had Alzheimer's would a piece describing the escalation of symptoms be wrong in your opinion?
C) Where exactly is the "gaslighting" (repetition of lies)? He present his thesis multiple times (going down this path could happen to anyone) multiple times. Please point it out.
D) How are you concluding this "just a hit piece because he doesn't like him mom"? Would he have described of the good qualities he remembers about her? Or the things he did trying to maintain a relationship? "Hit pieces" usually just include negative aspects (and lies), never show empathy like he did in the last paragraph
E) On a tangent, you really seem to be pushing "you should respect your parents" (correct me if I'm wrong) - I'm not sure how you are concluding he *isn't*, given what he's hoping they can get back.

Not sure why you ignored everything else, but okay - do you believe the mom's beliefs are reasonable? You are right about the definition of gaslighting but how do you see it applying here? If someone close to you said "I heard you can eat pizza for every meal, it doesn't actually affect your heath", wouldn't you discuss the topic a few times?

The statement about being called a pedophile is from stories of people interacting with their family members to highlight the nature how deep seated the beliefs are. In rereading the sentence my grammar could have been clearer, my apologies.
