The end is near! The final eight are set, and tonight, we will crown a brand new BattleBots World Champion! Which one of these eight will conquer the rest and take home the coveted Giant Nut, and which other bots will receive one of the four special best-in-show awards?

It's the top seed, the driver is an asshole, and they won a fight in a really boring and asshole-ish way earlier in the season.

Jake Ewert pulled the stupidest shit to win against Huge, installing a keep-away rack on the front of Hydra in order to make it so that Huge's weapon couldn't reach the main body of the bot or maneuver at all, and he used it to box Huge into the corner basically the whole match. it was one of the most stupid, boring matches ever, and to top it off, he acted really smug and indignant toward both the opposing team AND the ref during the match, like when the ref said he had to release the "hold" he had on Huge and he tried to assert that he wasn't touching so it wasn't a hold. literal "not touching, can't get mad! not touching, can't get mad!" bullshit. it was probably the single most egregious display of unsportsmanlike behavior i've ever seen on BattleBots.

ok yeah, I did watch that video and I remember that. I don't mind the rack on there at all, but you're right that how he acted towards the other team was trash and how he acted towards the judge should've gotten him disqualified. Don't fucking argue with the judge, jesus

Nah, Pressure Drop's late hits and Complete Control's net incident were worse. Derek Young is still the biggest asshole and it's now reflected in his judging.

The final matches went as expected. It was hard to see Endgame not winning it all when Bite Force has already proven the design is near-untouchable.

On a side note, almost all of the BattleBots: Bounty Hunters side episodes are up on Discovery+. I'm still waiting until all of them are up to subscribe to the service and binge those. But for now, for the last time in this tournament, IT'S ROBOT FIGHTIN' TIME!

Oh. I haven't actually watched any of them, so I don't know. You might be able to find the brackets for the episodes on the BattleBots subreddit to see the first-round matches, but I definitely wouldn't go there until after watching the finals tonight to avoid being spoiled.

I was really rooting for Whiplash. They're so technically proficient and have been so good for so long. I got nothing against Endgame but like, it'd really be something to see something besides a vertical disc spinner soon.

Also lol @ the builders voting shitty Chomp for Best Design. Cool! A walker bot that you can't even tell is walking!

idk, the bot looked pretty unique and nifty to me. Chomp stood out pretty well imo.

Personally, I think my favorite looking bots were Chomp, Shatter, Beta (with the wedge), and Endgame. I guess looking at that, I have a bias towards hammer bots in terms of looks, lmao.

I just think it came off as slow and ineffective. I understand that it needs to protect its legs, but when you cover them with a big dorky hula hoop, it loses any potential at looking cool and unique.

You know what Champ can do next season? Make a proper drivetrain and a balanced bot.

But we all know they're going to literally reinvent the wheel for no fucking reason. They have amazing weaponry and tracking AI yet punish themselves with shitty locomotion.

Most Overdesigned Bot would have been a more appropriate award for them.

Over-engineering things is what they do best. Even then, from what they said, they used a pneumatic system to make the bot walk. Thus, they couldn't even scuttle for the full 3 minutes. I'm sure there's something to appreciate in there about how all the legs successfully interact to move, but there has to be a cleaner solution to achieve similar results.

For the matches in the finale though, good stuff all around. The judges made the right calls as well, and I'm sure plenty of people cheered when the villains fell. :P

I can't think of a that deserves it more though. So many of the bots in the field are just low rent Bite Forces, or generally non functional in much more generic and non-innovative ways.

Valkyrie might be my choice, if it didn't already win most destructive.
HUGE, but it's been around a few years, and maybe already one an award in past seasons.

Uppercut deserved most destructive, and (despite how much as people memed about Rusty) Jackpot deserved best newcomer. I sort of understand Chomp getting best design just because of the sheer technological marvel behind it, but I would have given it to SMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Rotator was also a candidate for most destructive.

But I agree with giving it to Valkyrie. They fixed its durability and that weapon is serious business. Unfortunately, it spent most of its time digging into the battle box. I don't think the two wheel design works the way they want. It has no leverage and pushing power.
