EDF5 was one of the best gaming experiences i've had in the past few years

the physics feel cheap but in a comically ludicrous way that usually doesn't actually negatively impact gameplay (but you will see limbs flying 5000 feet into the air)

the weapons you use get progressively more powerful and stupid in their scale (on the air raider class that specializes in calling down support strikes, you go from calling down smaller strafing runs to absolutely fucking massive bombing runs that wipe out hundreds of bugs at once)

all four classes feel very distinct; air raider has almost no way to defend himself but can raze the world if he aims well, fencer has low mobility until you figure out how to chain boosts and jumps and then you feel like a tiny mech with huge firepower, wing diver uses futuristic plasma-based weaponry and a jetpack, and ranger is the boring guns and missiles class except the guns and missiles also become very silly so it isn't actually boring

the humor is great because they lampoon the hell out of old B movies and everything is super cheesy (both english and japanese dubs are very good because they parody each language's respective cheesy movie styles)

battlefields actually feel interesting because you almost always have allies that will clean up for you, but it actually doesn't matter if anyone survives in this game. there's no objective except kill fuckin everything. you're like doom guy with a vast array of BFGs to choose from

The EDF games are so much fun. My brother and I love playing them together. I have been desperately hoping for a new one to come out on Xbox. I would absolutely buy it if they ever give us another one.

edf games tend to lose multiplayer after a bit, might want to check into it if you want to play it.
