Years ago I used to play a lot of Unreal Tournament. One of my favorite modes was Capture the Flag. There is this one map set on an asteroid in space with 2 forts on either side. I figured out somehow a way to get on this ledge behind the forts where nobody ever goes and took the enemy flag there. With me having one of the flags and nobody knowing where I was, nobody could score anymore

I hid back there for like maybe 20 minutes at least and the entire server was looking for me. They never did figure out where I was and I eventually just came back out and showed myself. I had the whole battle stalled to a standstill

Yeah, twice I can think of. Unless trolling enemies/NPCs counts, in which case, yes, for hours and hours and hours of my kid life.

The two I was thinking of, though, are:

1. Shooting in the air to give away my asshole teammate's position in TLoU Factions.

2. The time I just messed with this one guy repeatedly for the whole match in MGO (MGS4 version). I was hiding in the grass wearing all OD and I waited until somebody passed by, then I headshotted him with the Operator after he ran virtually over me. Then I made a point to continue lying there long enough for him to think I wasn't going to move, then I moved to a nearby hiding spot where I could see the grass. Sure enough, he beelines it straight there and throws a grenade into the grass, lol. Then he runs and stands in the middle of the grass for some reason, and he gets another headshot from the Operator lol. I don't remember what I did after that, but I kept getting headshots with the Operator on this dude because of similar trickery.

In MGO I would choke out my teammates sometimes and take all their equipment then drag them out to the open for the enemy to get an easy headshot while they were still knocked out lol

Plenty, though it's always in a way that isn't contrary to the nature of the game. For example, stealing rare spawns when someone is clearly cycling them. It's a public space, farmer-san.

Fighting games come with a sort of caveat, in that messing with someone mentally is a valid tactic, even if you don't mean it to be.

Constantly in Dark Souls 3. A couple fun instances that stand out:

• There's a place or two I can maneuver people to get perpetually stuck.
• Invading a world but then offering the host a sign of peace as well as an item that aggros enemies against me. I teamed up with the host and helped him through an area, only to kick him off a ladder towards the end.
• Cutting the rope bridge.
• Bringing in poison builds into the early game areas where it can't be healed.

i do the trolling.
had so much fun going around knifing everyone in gun game just to piss people off.
or on nhl, 3-4 of us would get together in drop in and purposely play bad and trash talk our other teammates telling them how trash they are and they're the reason why we're losing.

Oh and I forgot about this one, but the few times I've played fighters online, as soon as I can tell I stand no chance, I swap to troll mode and start taunt spamming, or just evading forever without attacking, or intentionally jumping out of the ring, or etc.

MGO was such a great shooter(or is or whatev). You couldn't balls out this game, you had to be strategic.

I used to troll sometimes in Tekken. I'd beat newbies by making them whiff and spamming my jab, or since I used Asuka I'd beat them with just the counter. I stopped because it was just kind of lame, smurfing in general kind of is.

When i play gun game on CoD Ghosts, i will just knife people if I join a lobby near the end of the round. Quite a few times i did it til time ran out and nobody really won.

I will also troll people into getting their messages on xbox live deleted or getting them communication banned if they wanna talk shit after a game and go too far with it.

I hacked my wii once and did stuff like infinite lightning in mk wii online. That got boring quick though, I just wanted to see how that felt like lol

I did some hacks on Brawl online where I did stuff like spawn as WarioMan or Giga Bowser, those were slightly more fun. I also had a hack where I can hop in with my 2 friends in the "With Anyone" mode and us 3 would gang up on the outsider. That was pretty funny lol

One time we played an online Zelda 3 clone called Graal on the highschool school computers at lunch and I installed a keylogger. Another kid logged in and I logged in as him and got him banned. He still remembered it 10 years later and I felt pretty bad that was such a dick move.

Also on Return to Castle Wolfenstein I'd pick the flame thrower and murder my allies lol.

Wait her 2H or Torpedo? I mean if they can't block either then they suck and have no right complaining lol. I got a shit ton of hate mail and rage quits in MvC3 for using Morrigan though, since scrubs hate zoners. There have been numerous times when people would send hate mail about Soul Fist spam so the next game I would just rush down their ass with her and they would just say stuff like "you're still trash" lol.

But yes, I love trolling people in fighters a lot. But not in a way that's a hinderance; I just go for funny, impractical combos a lot of the time.

Haha I loved MGO 2. I used to play team sneaking in urban ultimatum a lot. On the sneaking team, we used to climb onto the red building at the beginning of a round. I'd then quickly stab a team mate coming up the ladder, which takes half their life, then grab a hold of them, drag them to the edge and throw them off the building which finishes them off.

The kicker is, the game would register that as a suicide instead of a team kill and it would show up as such. Then the person would most likely try to get me vote kicked after dying in which I would reply in chat with "?".

I used to play Counter-Strike with a stupid name (Mr. Clark) and a clan tag that read Dea. Honestly don't remember what it was supposed to stand for.

There were a few times when people would start bragging about smoking pot so I'd start asking them serious questions about it until they noticed my clan tag and started freaking out lol.

yes i used to teamkill in call of duty 4 and explode my entire team with the rocket launcher as soon as the round started

Yes. One of my favorite things to do in Calladuty is to run smoke grenades, rpgs, molotovs on small maps like nuketown, although shipment was the best. The pure chaos especially on domination gets me cackling like a tickled hyena. Flak jacket users can suck my ass tho lol

I sorta kinda accidentally cast thunderwave on my party in multiplayer BG3. It does a small amount of damage and sends them 10 feet backwards.

What I hadn't realized is that the game factors in that they were on top of a building at the time and sent them flying ten feet...off of the building, sending them falling 30 additional feet. The fall damage was not negligible and the party wiped.

Sure. I will cheese, and I expect to be cheesed, and, being that I am competent, I can beat cheesing. The game defines what is fair, barring extenuating circumstances. I'm not a scrub, so I don't complain about what other people do, I just beat them, or learn why I lost.

This. This so much. Scrubs complain about spam, or say that things are cheap, and thats what holds them back. If you want to play with made up rules, fine, but do it with other scrubs who agree to them. Dont expect everyone to hold back just because you dont like something.

If I lose to spam, then its my fault that I couldnt come up with a counter to it. I dont blame my opponent for repeating a strategy that worked. Ever hear the saying If it isnt broken, dont fix it? Well, that applies to video games as well as real life.
