30 y/o Gay Singer and Actor, Olly Alexander is tipped to be the next DOCTOR WHO who will be the first Gay Doctor replacing the first FEMALE Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, who stepped down from the role following the exits of 2 of her companions.

He became a household name thanks to his role in Russell T. DAvies "It's a Sin" about the AIDS pandemic and it's impact on the gay community

Although he's not officially announcing it, sources say he has been chosen and Davies says he would be the perfect fit for the role to represent the gay community

He would also be the youngest doctor who ever at the ageof 30 and when asked about it, he said "I mean, if i was do you think i'd be able to tell you? It's true i am very indiscreet but my lips are sealed"

He would be the 14th doctor has he admitted it would be a dream role if it actually happened because he's loved it since he started watching

The showrunners have longed been pushed to have more diverse doctors as they've only featured white males before Whittaker but producers were now going for a different direction with different doctors and to have its first Gay doctor would show it s diversity. Although some have longed for a black doctor, it doesn't look to be in this time around.

Whittaker has been the doctor for 3 seasons as the reveal of the first female doctor had been met with mixed reaction as progressives praised the show for finally having a female in a lead role while others call it pandering to social justice demands

Do you expect the same blowback from conservatives cause they cast a Gay Doctor like they did with the first Female Doctor?

There's no way this is real.

The Doctor being "gay" wouldn't be an issue as he's already kissed men on screen (and they're a sex-changing alien whose gender and sexual orientation are always in flux), but hiring someone specifically because they're a gay guy is stupid as hell.

Being a good actor should come first and foremost.

What they messed up with with Jodie is that they cared more about her being the first female Doctor than anything else, and forgot they had to actually write good stories for her. She's only had like 5 or 6 episodes in the last three years that I can bother to watch again, so I'm hoping they do her justice in her final season if it really *is* her final season.

Jodie really got sabotaged by the showrunner's obsession with getting social kudos. They forgot to write good stories as you said. She could've been a really good Doctor imo.

I stopped watching halfway through Whitaker's first season. She did as well as she could with the character, but yeah the writing went to shit. Didn't DW get a new showrunner at the same time? Production quality took a nosedive too. And the companions had no personality. Just a perfect storm of sucktitude.

Anyway, I think it's most likely that the next Doctor will be a male PoC. After that, it's up in the air. But I think that's where we're headed next.

Every Doctor except the 9th and arguably the 7th has struggled with bad writers. Did you watch Series 2? Or any of the original show? Because while there are some fantastic episodes, nearly every Season has a huge miss.

I really don't understand what was so hard about just leaving the Doctor as a white guy, because that is what the character is, and then just having other Time-Lords show up from time to time who could be whatever else and help the Doctor out every so often. I mean I doubt he knew who every single one of them was a d where all of them were at everyone point in time before Gallifrey went to shit. Instead they prioritized diversity above all else and the ratings fell off a cliff as a result.

Of course its not like it matters now anyway, they completely fucked up the storyline to be beyond absurd at this point. Considering Whitaker was terrible to begin with, and then things got even worse in her second season, I wonder if the show will even still be on the air after a third season of her.

I just can't. I'm out. At a certain point maybe you're just too old for change. I tried to give Whittaker a fair shot but never made it through the first season thanks to stupid style choices and boring writing. But this is just too far for me. I'm not jumping back in for this. No offense to anyone. If this appeals to you, great. But it's a hard pass for me.

Matt Smith's run was good too, but after him it went downhill fast. David Tennant was probably the definitive Doctor of this new series (Doctor's #9 - present).

That was the lore of the franchise. I didn't say there can't be women Time-Lords or black Time-Lords or Asian Time-Lords or whatever else. But when for 50 years you have the character change from one white male to another white male down the line then you establish that character is a white male. It would make sense anyway that they would regenerate into what they already are. I know its popular these days to shit on white guys and to try and change every single long established white male character there is, but not only does it piss people off, it also disrespects the character and the material.

As I said, they can have other Time-Lords in the show. I mean hell, make another Time-Lord a companion for a season, that would be interesting. Certainly a hell of a lot more interesting then what we got the past two seasons.

Three seasons is actually fairly typical. Tom Baker's seven years was the anomaly.

The last three doctors made three seasons each, over five or six years. Burnout and/or boredom is completely understandable.

Only Tom Baker went for an extended period of time. 3 Seasons/series sort of became an unofficial standard. Troughton (2nd Doctor) decided that was the right amount of time and he gave that advice to Davison (5th Doctor) and since then other actors have latched onto that advice too. What's funny is that Davison has frequently said he wishes he had gone for the 4th season.
