Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! alongside his co-star Arsenio Hall, who will reprise the role of Semmi in the Coming to America sequel, on Monday (1 March), Murphy discussed white comedian Louie Andersons appearance as Maurice in the original film. I love Louie, but I think we were forced to put Louie in it, Hall told Kimmel. We were forced to put [in] a white person. The whole cast was Black and this was back in the Eighties, so it was like We have to have a white person, there has to be a white person in the movie, Murphy recalled. I was like, What?
