We keep losing bad ass convenient things for the environment's sake when, let's be honest, the environment is fucked regardless.

Removing plastic straws sucks. Metal straws are disgusting and so are paper ones.

I wouldn't mind getting rid of them if we had a viable alternative first.

I use metal straws, I like them just fine. The one time I used a paper straw it was also fine. Didn't disintegrate or anything and I was drinking for over half an hour. This is a non issue and every little bit helps if everyone everywhere is doing it.

I went to Starbucks a few weeks ago and found out they're using cardboard straws now.

I fucking hate them. They start to get saturated and soft before I finish the drink.

Id be fine with ditching plastic straws but I feel like they should be a low priority to other things.

like if were talking consumer plastics specifically we can start with how many unnecessary plastic bags are in fucking everything.

Buy a phone charger? The cable, the wall piece and the usb all come in their own individual plastic bags. And those all come in a box. And the box itself is covered in its own plastic bag when its shipped to the store.

Seriously when I world at a convenience store, one order of phone chargers (which lasted about a week or two) came with enough plastic to kill an entire generation of sea turtles. >_>
