I don't mean a legal adult. I mean a "grown adult"

As in, youd expect the behavior of a 19 yr old to be consistent with your mental archetype of a grown adult. Yes or no?

Oh Lord. Where are you going with this?

Anyway, I would say no. Most 19 year olds aren't all that different, maturity-wise than high school teens. There are exceptions to that of course. But that's why I generally find the idea of dating someone that young, so unappealing now.

19's a young adult. They've still got some growing up to do, but its old enough to be treated like an adult imo.

They're not a grown adult. They're still getting their sea legs, and they're still socially developing.

I still think it's sketchy for someone who's out of high school to consider high schoolers within their dating pool, though. Even with the short amount of time in the real world compared to a proper adult, even in the midst of that adjustment period, it's still creepy.

Frankly, it's an awkward age. Especially for dating.

Oh, wow. 19? That is quite a big number, no? I mean, yeah, that is kinda old. Like, I know some boomers who could still manage, but they were the younger boomers, not... no offense, but not THAT old. I am sorry, but I think it might be a bit too late at that age.

19, you say? So, like, that means having served in WW2, right? I respect that, but that was well over 90 years ago, and we are in the computer age now. I think they had just invented morse code back in those more youthful days, but that is quite different from posting on GameFAQs.

Look, I understand that at your age, you probably saw a live Beethoven performance, where the "live" refers to Beethoven and not the performance. I guess back in those days, a composer was the closest thing to a message board user, but it is not the same. And no, seeing a "first ever performance" of Shakespeare is not the same either.

19, was it? So, maybe that means having personally learned battle tactics from Genghis Khan, but creating a new topic with a poll is a whole different kettle of fish. A kettle is a modern tool used to make hot water. People who are that old are probably more familiar with the original version, the Roman cauldron.

I think we all agree that your old civilization was wonderful, but is it not time that you took a rest? All your friends are now on display in museums, so why not join them? Look, I am very grateful for those ancient generations, especially for inventing ways to make fire, but we are going to have to be realistic about age-related mental decline, and the practically nonexistent possibility of still retaining the mental capacity to grasp the complex concepts following the boards' Terms of Service. At your advanced age, if you truly want to contribute, you can pour yourself into my car's fuel tank, and I will drive to a computer and make the topic myself.

True, but it can happen. At 19, I had my own apt, worked 50 hours a week, had bought my own car, & paid all my own bills. Zero financial help from my family.

On the other hand, I've known several people in their 20s & even 30s who couldn't do all of that without their parents supporting them.

I voted no because in general I expect most people to be immature idiots well into their 20s.

I agree with upbringing determines. Most if not all are not prepared. So we often get lost and find new purpose for ourselves. Easy peasy right?

I feel Adulting is taking responsibility for actions & lack thereof to provide a life for yourself. The world is big enough for you to carve a piece of it and take it for your own sorta stuff.

The roles change throughout your life but youre constantly adapting & doing the best you can to live in this world.

Sopranos has 70 year old men calling 60 year olds "kids". It is all perspective at a certain point.

If you are talking about legally, they are grown adults. In fact, in many cases, people are charged as "adults" when they are significantly younger than 18, let alone 19.

If you are talking about maturity, there are arguments both ways.

If you are talking about decision making prowess, again there are arguments both ways, as much of it depends on the individual.

While it can occasionally vary I agree with this. Even most college students have no idea what the outside world is really like until theyve been at a full time job for awhile.

Its not a slight, weve all either been or will be at that stage in life and grow out of it.
