Current situation: 27 years old with a degree in supply chain management, in a finance job 4 years making 80k.

The job sucks and the company sucks, and I can't get another job because I don't want to lose out on the pay and benefits and good luck also finding a business job in 2021 unless you know the VP. I've thought about going to school to get another degree, accounting, or MBA but is it really worth the time and debt to do that?

Why not start a business, but that's easier said than done :( Start what business with what money?

I'm sick of just rotting and wasting my late twenties away while I see people that picked better degrees or are making moves because of networking.

eh I guess you could get a finance cert and join one of the companies up here in the Seattle area. your options are a megacorp like Amazon, Microsoft, or Google or a small-medium size SaaS company.

Start small. First research what kind of legitimate career you can get in that field, then see if theres an online college where you can take part time classes and get a degree. And also try to dedicate an hour, Hell even a half hour to doing it creatively every day. Eventually youll be educated, confident and credible enough to legitimately pursue it.

I was doing the exact same kind of job as you, making empty money doing something I could give two fucks about and basically mentally vacant for 8 hours a day, had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, and then I realized that my entire life ive always been the funny guy, I love making people laugh and laughing and im very good at it. I can make any audience laugh. And I also always loved writing and coming up with random funny scenarios in conversation, and suddenly the clouds parted and I put those two things together to realize that comedy writing was my destiny. And ever since then I pursued a screenwriting degree part time online, ive written countless random skits and episodes of an imaginary TV show ive formed and never looked back.

And soon ill be finishing my degree with a solid network of people ive met in the industry who are ready to hire me on for their projects the minute I graduate. And holy fuck I sometimes cry at how proud of myself and fulfilled I am.

It can be done. Think about something you love that youre better than everyone else at, what career can come of it, how to make yourself hirable at that job and how to fit pursuit of that into your current life.

Yeah, I'm not sure what lack of direction is a symptom for but I have it too

Even if there are options they don't seem more appealing then whatever else so while there are things to do, nothing starts with strong payoff and picking something is basically arbitrary

Potentially there might not be anything wrong if you dont have any problems with basic functionality, but I understand feeling unsatisfied when the primary human activity in north america is managing stability

Okay, I like coaching and building people up/consulting kind of/ I'm also pretty great at creating databases and stuff thru excel. Like you said before, my issue is starting the process and not abandoning it later because of thinking is it worth the money and time commitment?

It's not a lot and not worth being drained all day

It sucks lol, I feel like it's a new age issue due less marriages, delayed children, and higher expectations

I didn't make 80k til like 2 years ago, before hand I had to go to college then I got a job that paid so little it put me in the negatives, and afterwards I got a better job but I did splurge. I didn't really start saving til last May.
