NGL "Black Voices in Gaming" is kind of ridiculous subject in the first place. Are they going to start doing ethnic awareness segments for other groups of minorities in the gaming industry too? I doubt it. I don't mind if people genuinely dislike this video because they feel this type of video is unnecessary, but to dislike it because they are racist assholes and feel like they are confronted and personally attacked by a video of black actors who are successful is pretty pathetic. I can just imagine it now.... Some guy probably found out Kratos' voice actor is black and decided to stop playing God of War games, etc..

actually that is correct, we should stop doing anything based on race. but in order to move in that direction, white people just need to include minorities more in everything. and this is true of every majority everywhere. we need to become equals, and in order to do that those with power need to share it. but to continue the categorization beyond that point is just gonna perpetuate the cycle of hatred. imo. thoughts?

edit: and in reality, the truth of the matter is that those with $50 million or more need to make everyone else millionaires.

This seemed like a pretty cool video, introducing some games and developers that I never heard of. Yeah, I'd chalk it down to racism for such an aggressive push against it.

Having more diversity with developers, authors, artists, etc. (not just race, but country, gender, ideologies, etc) is a good thing and assists with creating more believable (or unbelievable) worlds.

Also the thing about Speedy Gonzales iirc is that in the Latin dub that actual Mexicans watched, he was given a standard Latin accent (or whatever, the point is that to kids watching the show back then in Mexico, he sounded generic) and didn't actually sound like a stereotype in that dub. Because of the comments I've seen, they either think it's insincere/pandering or have misguided beliefs on what it racial division is, likely exacerbated by the cultural climate and preexisting sentiments towards stuff like BLM. I honestly think they come from a decent place, but unfortunately aren't being shaped by a nuanced understanding of what minorities have gone through to get where they are today. That, combined with the fact that the media has largely ignited the flames of civil unrest and racial division, is what I think causes people to be so immediately defensive about these matters. Now, of course there are legitimate racists everywhere; I'm just not painting everyone with such a broad stroke. I like to look at things more psychologically, instead of just hurling derogatory labels at those who, on the surface, seem "bad".

People who say they don't see color usually tend to be pretty racist. Everyone acting like just trying to spotlight blacks in the video game industry is racist in and of itself tend to ignore that the video game industry is also like 98% white in America. It's so funny how they'll see nothing really wrong with that but this is what they choose to waste their energy hating. I've been around too many gamer types irl who seemed like decent people but who turned out to be pretty grossly racist to know that these people, who say a lot of the same kind of shit, are probably saying the same shit when no one's looking too.

I mean, you could be right. Perhaps I'm giving these people way too much benefit of a doubt. I just don't like to do the opposite, either. Trump empowered a lot of closet racists to be bold and brash about their bigotry, so maybe this is some of that residual energy. Or maybe people are so sick of having politics shoved in their face that they're now lashing out at anything that seems remotely "woke", without actually critically assessing things on a case-by-case basis. Maybe it's both. Again, the media fans these flames, especially with the ever-growing popularity of "influencers" -- many of whom contribute to the brainwashing. I mainly just feel sorry for everyone.
