It's genuinely shocking how despite having essentially an infinite budget, they manage to cut corners and costs everywhere. This somehow looks like it's several steps backwards from Sword and Shield, but in a bad way.

Actually this is why I'm willing to give the DP remakes the benefit of the doubt. Can't believe GF actually outsourced a big game to another developer. And this one has a pretty good track record. People have been calling for this for years because the GF team is really small and clearly not up to the task of 3D games. They haven't done a single good one yet in my opinion. The Arceus game sounds really hype on paper but just looks bland and empty like SWSH were.

I'm not familiar with the developer, I'd have to check them out.
But everyone should be aware, this game will not have any Platinum Features. It is very clear from the trailer that this is a remake of Diamond and Pearl.

I wish GameFreak would just take a step back, and reevaluate. Okay even if it means we don't get another Pokemon game for like 5 or 6 years. Fine. I would rather they take the time to make an amazing game, than just consistently and constantly lower the bar and release utter crap.

Unsurprising. GF did the same thing with ORAS except they stuck in Delta Episode like that was supposed to make up for no Battle Frontier etc. It was just RS again with a slight tweak. HGSS is the last time they did a remake that covered the third version and then still put in more stuff.

BTW I'm not saying these will be good. They certainly don't look that crispy but the point is I'm still willing to give it a chance on further looks, just because GF isn't doing it! If this Arceus game turns out bad GF has no excuse because it's their sole focus.

This chibi style is gross. Even Let's Go looked better in some ways.

EDIT: Someone on another board said that Link's Awakening was in a similar chibi style. Which is a good point tbh.

Yes but Link's Awakening Switch is actually a beautiful looking game. Whereas this looks like a WiiWare game.

Legends looks like it has potential, but I'm going to wait to see the final product before making any judgements on it. I don't trust GF to make something great anymore.

They can't ever reimagine the maps? Or whoever's making this? The same overworld maps are recreated even down to the shape of the patches of grass from what little I saw.

The reason HGSS's overworld maps were a simpler style than DPPt was that they were first designed with the gameboy in mind.

I loved Diamond/Pearl because I loved digging in the underground, so I hope that gets improved

It looks like it did in the originals. The one time I'll give Gamefreak credit for simplistic graphics.

The Arceus Game? It might be the first game I play on my Switch. It looks like they finally changed the formula a little in a main game.

I decided that I am getting the D/P remakes but I might skip the Arceus game depending on if it is standalone or not.
D/P Looks like it will most likely be a very good game, unless someone makes a big mistake. Adding things like the Union Room and Underground are signs that someone put effort in not to deviate from a formula that was known to work well. That might mean things like the GTS or even no team preview might make comebacks (probably not the later but whatever).

In D/P Porygon-Z was part of the National Dex. In Platinum he was added to the Sinnoh Dex.

The original DP style kinda looked like crap as well. It was one reason why I wasn't overly found of that generation. They shouldn't have tried to replicate the style at the time, and they're kinda running into the same issue here.

Otherwise it doesn't look egregious in any way.
