I won't deny that my checks were higher under Trump which is always a good thing. The problem is while my low middle class ass was getting a little more money the billionaires were getting a lot more money.

Theres something really comforting about being called a mindless sheep in a political ghetto/echo chamber by a guy who shills for free market capitalism and right wing libertarianism and also goes on homophobic rants on the internet.

they wouldn't have to fight so hard for progressive ideals if the republican party weren't comic book villains who hate their constituents...

They wouldnt be fighting at all is my point. It would status quo as usual.

Now with that said as phony as they are im still glad for it cause now we have more people in younger gens that truly believe in equality. Plus even if they pushed for it for all the wrong reasons we still got good things out of it.

They do a little. As said they got to or people would quickly realize how bogus they are. I mean gay marriage is legal now. Anything they fail to do they can blame the republicans for blocking them. Sometimes true sometimes they didnt out forth enough effort.

Idk why but i just thought about a video where random black citizens where interviewed on the dems claim voter id laws where racist based on black people having difficulty getting an id and a lot of them seemed offended by the implication. That said though I do think ids should be free. Basicalky if law requires you have it it should be provided
Sure, gay marriage is legal. That's a change that didn't really cost them anything. They also reopened a private detention facility for kids on the border that Kamala Harris vowed to close. And let's see if they ever ship a stimulus check, at this point it seems like it's just shrinking and shrinking. They are the same elite as Republicans, they just paint themselves as socially progressive to attract different voters.

If you're middle class that difference is only between 1-4%. Which sounds great because extra money is extra money.

Except we were stripped of the ability to deduct a bunch of stuff if we itemize. Like the interest on mortgages, work related purchases such as uniforms, and computers, and school supplies. Which means a lot of middle class have paid more in taxes than they did previously.

Trump's tax reform is nothing but a slight of hand trick so the GOP can keep picking the pockets of the middle class.

Uh, there's a lot more nuance than that in my opinion

Like one good thing Democrats have done in recent memory was passing the ACA. That's certainly not a socially progressive thing. And you can complain about the insurance exchanges, but 15 million people have free healthcare because of it.

This was one of the things the gop overpromised on. Lots of powerful interest groups would have loved to see the ACA go, but not enough to get them over the line to actually repeal it

Do people realize that the last stimulus check being 600 is the republican party when it should have been higher?

ah yes i remember those days. i fell into the gap, too poor for obamacare but not poor enough for medicare - thanks to my republican state leaders!

Do you mean Medicaid? Medicare is health insurance for people over 65 or with certain disabilities like End Stage renal disease.

Seems like you are agreeing with me. They do some things right cause they gotta to keep their voters.

yup. Just with the caveat that they also say they're gonna do things to keep their voters, and then they never do them and the media establishment don't really call them out for it, so they often get away with it

yes

That makes more sense then. I have occasionally ran into people who can't afford Medicare either, but typically they'll qualify for medicaid which will pay their medicare premiums.

i didn't qualify for medicaid and i couldn't afford what ACA was offering.
most of my adult life i've been uninsured. the last time i had health insurance through work, i still had to cough up 50 bucks for a therapy visit.

When I was in college I was working 3 jobs to help pay for it and I was in the same situation. Too much for a subsidy or medicaid, but not enough to actually afford it.

The lady at DHS office had the nerve to tell me I'd probably be better of dropping college and two of the jobs, and I'd qualify.

Like bruh I'm trying to make sure I don't need to be on this for the rest of my life.
