Did you like the TWZ Reboot?

The Second Season of the Twilight Zone that aired last fall will be its last as CBS All-Access has confirmed that it won't continue the show for a 3rd season..

It was revealed when it wasn't listed as one of the series set to continue when it transforms into Paramount+

Julie McNamar, executive VP and head of programming thanked Jordan Peele, Simon Kinberg and the entire production in Vancouver for bringing 2 seasons of the classic revival for the online streaming platform as they delved into socially and politically conscious storytelling for today's modern viewers.

It was FUCKING DOGSHIT. I really tried to like it, but maybe two episodes didn't suck.

As a kid, I loved Twilight Zone reruns. I have all the other runs of the show on DVD. I am a huge fan of anthologies because of the OG and 80s TZs and the 90s Outer Limits. When I heard Jordan Peele was rebooting TZ, I was really stoked. I loved Us. Then I got watching it, and I felt sorta like I won a free burger but then it gave me food poisoning. It's probably the worst show I've watched that I expected to be good. Even taking out the "social justice" elements, it was still terrible and simplistic. I sat through it because I just kept hoping it would get good. My mistake.

I'm not one to go all "iT's FoR SjWs" and be all butthurt. When people said Mad Max: Fury Road was "a feminist movie" I rolled my eyes. I'm not that guy. But the new TZ was seriously so overtly in your face in that direction that it was like some fringe-left college student fanfic revival. Hell, it was so out there the far-right could probably use it as propaganda about "the horrors of the left" or some nonsense. Several of the episodes in older series runs, particularly the 00s reboot, tackled social justice issues too, but it worked because it was done properly, not in the ridiculous, immature, and hamfisted way this one did. It was bad. Even my wife thought it was unwatchable, and she watches cringy teen dramas.

I watched the first season and had completely forgot I did until seeing this news. I don't remember disliking it or anything, but obviously it wasn't memorable and I don't feel compelled to seek out the second season.

I watched that one episode that they put out for free, not sure if it was the first episode or not...
Took place at a comedy club, not a single joke was funny or interesting in the slightest (I know the main character's weren't supposed to be at first, but I mean not even after he "got help" nor any of the other comedians shown) and the plot was so fucking basic and dull. No big or exciting twist.

So yeah, don't have an opinion on whether it was SJW or not. I just know it was horrible and didn't want to seek out more episodes.
Jordan Peele seems to be one of the most overrated people in Hollywood lately.

Yeah, that was the worst episode, by far. It wasn't one of the "social commentary" ones. That was pretty much the moment I realized there was probably no chance of it being good.

Idk, I liked his 2 other movies. Not amazing, but they were pretty alright.

It was a failure and comparing it to the original is straight sinful. It should have been named, "Inspired by the Twilight Zone", because it didn't come close to the original. I had hopes and I tried to be a fan, but for all the starpower and money thrown into it, it didn't live up. It was ok because it's different compared to everything else on. But it was a downer overall.

Yeah, the only free episode they had was fucking terrible. I had zero hopes for the show after that although, between loving the TZ and enjoying some of Peele's previous stuff, I would have tried other episodes if they were more readily available.

So while I think it was probably absolute shit and probably the worst incarnation, I honestly didn't watch enough of it to really render an informed decision because I had just seen that one episode. However, that episode seemed worse than anything I could remember from the 80s or 00s reboots.

First season was pretty horrid, especially the last episode, but the whole season was crap compared to Black Mirror, and that is hit or miss itself (about 50% of the episodes are good). I don't remember even 1 episode being good in the new twilight zone. Second season was hard enough to get through it took me a few months and I regretted wasting the time.

I want another season of Black mirror though, even if I generally only like half of the episodes, I really like quite a few of them and have even watched some multiple times.

But yeah, they tried to fix TWZ in season 2, after a bad first season, but it was like a sick dog that wouldn't get well, and it's a good thing they put it out of it's misery now (and ours).

So far I've only seen the misses, although the museum episode had some redeeming qualities. From what I've seen of it, that series certainly had some SJW overtones.

But it kinda brings to mind one of the possible problems with the TZ -- the episode length. The first episode is listed as having a 55-minute run time, and the TZ has historically *never* performed well as an hour-long program. Even Rod Serling couldn't pull that off, and the hour-long season was probably the worst in the original run (although it was also shorter). Looking over the lengths of the other episodes (which seem wildly inconsistent, with one episode being listed as being only 37 minutes long (which would be a lot of commercials?)). The TZ was for successful for its twists, reveals, and surprises, which work better in shorter formats.
