Saturday is Pokemon's 25th anniversary, there's always a Pokemon Direct for Pokemon Day. They are for sure going to talk about Snap 2, Unite, probably Detective Pikachu 2, maybe a new movie, maybe TCG stuff. But the big thing is most likely going to be a big flagship game release in November. My money is on straight Diamond/Pearl remakes on Switch, but some people think it's going to be Let's Go DPP remakes, or even Let's Go GSC remakes. I think Gen 9 is coming next year at the earliest. Maybe even in 2023 because of Covid.

Or the big announcement is the sequel to Pokemon Smile, Pokemon Bed. It teaches little kids how to make their beds.

I dont think Lets Go diamond/pearl. It would make sense to skip over gold and silver. Especially since diamond and pearl hasnt had a remake. And I think it might be too early for a new gen. Unless they just announce it, and say its coming out next year or something. I guess it depends on what they normally do for the anniversaries. Remakes/remasters are usually what they go to, but they do have snap coming out, so Idk... But to do a Pokmon direct means there has to be something, so...

No that is a link to Pokemon 2, which was never released and only a demo (and some source code) remains.
And these only exist because someone hacked Nintendo's servers a few years ago.

No, the intended to release a game in early 1998, but had to stop development of it due to the Porygon episode of the anime (the one that was rumored to have caused seizures). They later restarted development on it later in 1998. For some reason, during this time they decided to scrap what they had developed and basically start over again, this time with the assistance of HAL Labs, to create what would eventually become Pokemon Gold and Silver (Iwata was actually a major contributor here - the talks about his compression algorithm saving development was a real thing). The TCRF page goes into way more detail about this.

Not that I'm one to complain, I'm not a target fan anymore. I fell off at Black/White and have been trying to come back to them since a lot of people actually seem to hold them pretty dear. I completed my Diamond Pokedex in highschool. Playing Crystal on 3DS was dope. All the actual 3DS games didn't really catch me, and I haven't bought Sword/Shield yet. doubt I'll bother.

No expectations. My favourites were Gen 2 lol. I still liked Gen 3 a lot, but I remember being disappointed even at the age of 12 by removed time mechanics. Though they kind of made up for it with complex Legendary quests (braille).

I never knew that incident affected Gold and Silver. I know Porygon was soft-banned from the anim, despite not even being directly related to the infamous scene, makes me wonder what Pokmon would look like nowadays had they banned the actual culprit...

That's what happened last time when Unite, Sleep, ect. were announced.
I know I don't buy any of these games, I only care about the "main" Pokemon games, and none of the merchandise, and fluff.

My expectations are exceedingly low. Even IF it was DP remakes I wouldn't be hyped because everything GameFreak has touched post DS is garbage. ORAS wasn't good. So why would people think new DP is gonna be good either. I actually saw them this morning on the SwSh board hoping that it wouldn't be another Let's Go, as if the other games were any better. Fans have been conditioned to accept mediocrity for years. They think gen 8 is acceptable because LGPE was so watered down and gen 7 was atrocious. Thing is LGPE looked better than all their other shitty 3D efforts.

You're right. I mentioned DP there and those were heavily criticised at the time for some pretty glaring gameplay flaws. Platinum fixed a lot of them. RS were hated because old Pokemon couldn't come over. One would have thought they would try to avoid that fiasco again. I gotta laugh at all the shills who were scrambling for excuses when Pokemon got cut this time. Talking about balance and shit. GF have never cared about balance. They are just not good developers and couldn't get all the mons in on deadline. And shock, a whole set were added back later that broke competitive. Instead of having shame the apologists just acted like they weren't made fools of by the same people they were defending. Instead people were supposed to be grateful that mons who never shoulda been gone came back. Not even all back yet. But the problems started long before that.

You have to understand expectations were naturally raised a lot with the coming of Pokemon to 3D. We had things like Colosseum and XD but this was now the mainline stuff. This was supposed to be the big time. And what. We get shitty graphics and subpar gameplay. People say GF was never that good at graphics but I don't subscribe to that. They'd start off pretty tame and eventually push the system they were on. Their later GBA and DS games looked noticeably better and could match up to most other things on those systems. I haven't seen that at all on 3DS onwards. Gen 8 does not look any better than LGPE if at all.

The bigger issue is old games had the postgame content that made this series so replayable. Now they catering to ultra casuals with the attention span of a fruit fly. It's only with the recent gen 8 DLC they tried to address this but a lot of that shoulda been in to begin with. You asking people to pay a lot more since it's on a new system, but they getting less play time and also shitty graphics. If it looked real pretty you could at least say they sacrificed some content to put more time and resources in graphics.
