Please share your positivity. I love hearing people who can't fathom hopelessness, it helps heal some of my poisoned worldview.

I wish I had a more positive place to hang out too. I prey I'm wrong about everything. But I can't ever believe it no matter how hard I try.

Get some zoloft TC

I've been on different meds. They generally just make life more pretend which doesn't help my problems.

I'm trying, I'm still spending like a third of my paycheck to see a psychologist weekly.

But I'm pretty sure the time in which my life could have turned around is behind me. And ironically this thought which grows worse with time is the thought that has always poisoned me.

And I still have no first love I really jealous to see people falling love for the first time.

Ohh I also don't drink, go to club/party and smoke

Gotta love a topic about depression full of people that are poster children for why people never talk about depression until it is far too late.

I think my true happiness died at 12 or 13. My ability to live numbly has been dying for the last couple of years (now 42) and I just want to sleep until I die.

My positivity comes from knowing I have a secure job and am good enough at it that I would be one of the last to be let go. My kids bring me a ton a joy because I can relive vicariously through them as I share the things that made my childhood special. My wife also brings a lot of happiness to my life because I have someone that helps me stay on a better path and someone to lean on when I need support and someone to support when they need it because helping people makes me feel good.

I hope this post helps cure some of that poisoned view.

In my experience, this type of depression can only be fixed by taking positive steps to change everything about your life. While some depression is purely mental, depression like what I'm seeing in this topic is caused by a deep dissatisfaction with one's social life, career (or lack thereof), inadequate financial stability, and poor or nonexistent romantic/sex life. Taking meds isn't gonna work, "just being more positive" isn't gonna work, you are depressed because of concrete real life factors that most people will never understand.

My advice is to just throw everything in your life away and start fresh. Quit your job (if you have one), sell all your unnecessary belongings, stop posting on message boards, and devote your time toward something that you feel will make other people's lives better, even if it's just volunteer work. So many people are stuck at the bottom because they are clinging to the comfort of the familiar. Ironically they often get to a point where they throw it all away by committing suicide, yet it never occurs to them to just throw it all away while still staying alive. You have nothing to lose, take advantage of that.

I agree with most of this. Although if someone is living paycheck to paycheck as many people do, suggesting that they quit their job isn't exactly reasonable even though ultimately it probably is one of the things they need to do.

I don't remember, so far the one that seems to work best for me is citalopram, but even that has some serious downsides.
