The state everyone's leaving
According to the Census Bureau, CA during its worst years lost 1-3% of it's population annually. The state is big. Those numbers were big.

According to the Census Bureau, CA lost 0.18% or -69,532 people last year.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/12/23/new-york-population-decline-coronavirus-house-seats/4023477001/

I know redcaps and people in flyover states like the narrative, but there is no mass exodus.

Look at population related issues per capita, not raw numbers. Per capita provides context. Any number regarding California will be big.

Um, it's pretty bad to be losing population at all honestly. You expect to see maybe a slowing of growth in a country like the US but losing population is a sign something is wrong imo

That said it's hardly due to anything like taxes or general regulations, it's specifically a housing issue

They do it with Illinois too but it's just conservative fear-mongering at the end of the day. The situation in Illinois or California is really not as drastic as the rightists make it sound lol.

Well, that and people move for work reasons, move to care for parents, move to retire, etc.

I will say this about the work side in CA, if your occupation or company is closer to the 18th century than the 22nd century, you may find it tough. This state is R&D oriented.

i know. so it is possible, but it would suck having 3-4 roommates in your apartment. unless they're all really good friends or something

MDR kind of exploded rent-wise because Inglewood is building 3 new stadiums - well 2 - the Rams stadium is done, but the Clippers are building one and the third one is just straight "multipurpose" for the 2028 Olympics which will include a theme park and mall. As you know, people will take a hostage in this town just to get a 15 minute commute.

No, but you may have to do some homework to get the right place. Every apartment listing isn't dirt cheap but there are dirt cheap listings. Sometimes they aren't even listed but you may have to know someone to get the place.

I've seen this at least 3X in my life. CA comes up with something. As the skill set and technology become more common, it moves somewhere else cheaper.

Then someone here comes up with something else.

I am constantly training and learning because a skillset and creativity makes all the difference in the world here. Some of my staff hate it, but I make sure they are constantly training and learning too.

EDIT: losing my mind trying to learn EXCEL right now - by myself. No in person classes.
