Current Events > I'm doing a Pokemon Alpha Sapphire Nuzlocke.

I just finished a Nuzlocke of White 2. and by "finished", I mean "died to the Champion". so I'm going to try Nuzlocking an easier game before maybe going back to it. going with the usual rules, which are:

• I can only catch the first Pokemon I find in a new area
• if a Pokemon faints, it's dead and I can't use it

also I'm gonna try not using healing items in battle, and I can't be a higher level than the next gym leader I have to face (if I can help it).

Starting out, I picked Mudkip (Muddy), obviously. my next few encounters were Poochyena (Shenzi) on Route 101, Wingull (Dingle) on Route 102, Zigzagoon (Zig) on Route 103, Wurmple (Missy) on Route 104 and Shroomish (Punchy). Some good encounters, some meh ones.

and I say this game is easier, but Zig already died to that one rich kid on Route 103 with a Zigzagoon. lol

Neat. It's pretty funny that Dustox is actually (slightly) better than Beautifly in competitive and probably ingame usage since compoundeyes is better than anything Beautifly as.

I caught Tailow (Piper) on Route 116 and Whismur (Karen) in Rusturf Tunnel. Tailow will be good for Brawly.

Are fangames allowed to be discussed on this site? Or well fan versions of games? Cause I am currently playing a fun version of Red that has gen 8 mons and stuff and its so god damn difficult so no need to nuzlocke. Misty with a terrifying Frogadier with protean and Starmie. Having a person in each pokecenter with the ability to change natures is nice.

Thats the ducking problem with these games, I would replay the shit out of them... but only one save and I aint giving up 200 hrs on my original save.

Caught Magikarp (Slayer) in Dewford Town and Geodude (Stoner) in Granite Cave. I'll add Stoner to the team after Brawly is dealt with.

Grinding isn't as bad in the newer games at least thanks to EXP. Share. You just have to make sure to turn it off when actually progressing through the game because then you'll probably end up overleveled instead.

Brawly was a joke thanks to Piper and Missy. all he wanted to do was use Bulk Up lol.
sadly, Missy will probably not be very useful from this point on, so time to switch her out.

this will guarantee I can get a Magnemite when I go to New Mauvile.

nice, I found Skarmory on Route 113. took a while, but he finally got in the Ultra Ball. named him Swordwing. I'll hold on to him in case Piper dies. But she just evolved to Swellow, so she's putting in the work now.

also found Numel (Clarke) on Route 112 and Koffing (James) in Firey Path. Clarke is good to have a Fire type on the team, but don't need James.

caught Lombre (Miror B.) in Route 114 and Zubat (Dante) in Meteor Falls. don't need either of them right now. but my first match against Archie is coming up.

dang, I was afraid of Archie's Sharpedo, but he only got to try one move on Muddy before Bulldoze lowered his speed enough for me to take him out in two hits. the rest of the battle was cake, too.

also caught Machop (Dana) on Jagged Pass and grabbed the Wynaut egg for the lulz.
and Stoner evolved into Graveler. Good thing I can do the trade evo.

I didn't wanna just use Muddy to sweep Flannery, so I started out with Clarke instead. And he ended up sweeping her lol.

Then I went to the desert and caught Sandshrew (Dear). Meh.

for a minute, I thought that I wouldn't be able to trade Stoner since it knew an HM move and the game said "lol you need it in your party, loser". but I was able to do the trade by simply depositing Stoner and trading it from the box. so what's the point of that roadblock?

anyway, Norman. I don't have any mons with Protect, but I do have Dig for Stoner and Muddy. started with Stoner against his first Slaking, and once I got to the second turn, I was able to start my Dig strategy. but him using Hyper Potion skipped a Truant turn, which was annoying, but I took it out easily.

his Vigoroth Encored me into using Dig again, but the first Dig managed to be a critical hit and I took it out easily. I left in Stoner for his second Slaking in case he used Retaliate. but he used Feint Attack. but now that I was off my Dig routine, I needed to take another hit. which wasn't too bad. even his critical Feint Attack wasn't enough. I soon digged my way to victory.

once again, I solo'd a gym with one Pokemon. but this one was a bit more annoying, since I had to play around his Slakings. Good thing Stoner is able to take a few hits. and if he's still around for Winonna, he'll be very useful against her.

I got the free Latias, but I won't use her unless something goes critically wrong and I lose a bunch of my team all at once. so very unlikely.

also got Electrike on Route 118 that I forgot to nickname and Linoone (Hugs) on Route 119. no grass in the available section of Route 123, tho. >.>

time for Winona.

I started with Stoner, since her Swellow can't do much to it, and he can also set up Stealth Rock. she used Double Team a couple of times, but I hit her after two tries and took out Swellow. next was Pelliper, which would kill Stoner with one Water Pulse. so I switched to Sphere. one Electro Ball took it out.

she sent out Altaria next. I used Volt Switch to tag out to Stoner, and EQ ended up not doing much damage. She Roosted next, so Rock Blast was neutral, but still did a decent amount. she Cotton Guarded next, but Rock Blast was able to do enough to take it out. finally for Skarmory, I switched to Clarke. one Lava Plume was enough.

this was probably the toughest battle yet, in theory. Altaria was the one I needed to be most afraid of. I was thinking of switching to Piper first to dodge her EQ, but I gambled on Stoner because he could do way more damage to Altaria than Piper could, and I didn't want her to bulk up with Cotton Guard too much.

nabbed a few new mons. Shuppet (Chucky) on Route 121, Doduo (Ghidorah) in the Safari Zone, Tentacool (Squidward) on Route 122, and Duskull (Billy) in Mt. Pyre. I'm gonna evolve Billy into Dusclops so he can replace Stoner. Putting an Eviolite on it makes it a much better defender.

Got Billy up to the rest of the team, and went through up to the Aqua Hideout without incident. Also Thorn is Roserade now, which is awesome.

just when I thought this game was being too easy, Piper died while I was working my way through the Mossdeep Gym. oh well, time to bring in that Skarmory.

Leveling up Swordwing is going well, but I may just go ahead with Tate and Liza before I finish, since I didn't plan on using him for that battle.

For Tate and Liza, I used Billy and Muddy. Also Swordwing to dodge Solrock's Solarbeam, even though I still need to level it up some.
Putting Eviolite on Billy was a good idea. It's such a tank that a crit Psychic from Lunatone did around 40 damage.

Then Clarke died to an Ace Trainer with a Crobat.
Bringing back Stoner since I don't feel like grinding something new from scratch on top of Swordwing.

Stoner took out all of Archie's non-Sharpedo mons no problems, but Mega Sharpedo was able to do enough damage to kill it, so I switched to Mega Muddy to deal the final blow. too bad, Stoner had a good run. I'll worry about his replacement after dealing with Kyogre, who I plan to be all "whatevs" with and just throw the Master Ball at it.
