Gonna play my first DnD game soon. I'm looking for a real casual experience I guess. The DM will be following an official DnD quest.

Nothing wrong with doing multiple rolls for your character until you get something good, yeah? I dont want to be squishy in my first DnD experience.

Rules as Written have a default roll you can use. So if theyre a fuddy duddy you can just point to that if your roll is actually abysmal. >_>

Well I like my roll better than the default one. Just wanted to know if it was considered taboo to do like a best roll out of 2 or 3.

Usually when you roll for stats, you roll once for each stat then put the rolls wherever you like. Some DMs will allow you to discard and reroll, or reroll and take the higher or two rolls, but only for one stat.

In 3.5 at least, there was a rule where if you roll for stats and they end up below a certain amount, you got to reroll.

If they're already better than the standard array, you get to toss your character into suicidal situations until the dice don't go your way and then make a new character with hopefully better stats.

Stats are a major balancing aspect of the game, though. Don't go too overzealous in your quest for multiple 18s.
