Im on the verge of quitting a well paying "relatively" speaking job. Its been stable through a pandemic with a retirement 401k match, overtime all year, flexible schedule and not really hardworking job.

I also have a part time job that I'm transitioning to full time but the pay is 30% less and was closed down due to the pandemic but ik running the risk that they will shut down again (I live in Ontario) I'll be going to school while I work and have decent savings but I'm just worried if I'm making the right decision picking a less paying job I'm happier at.

Any of you regret quitting your job? I feel like I'm done working at this place.

If you can quit without jeopardizing financial stability I highly recommend it. Sacrificing your health and livelihood for an employer that would have a new person in your place in 2 weeks if you died is fucking stupid

I just did that. Salary north of 70k/year, annual compensation around 80k. I've hated this job for a while and I happened to get big into $GME below $5/share, so I have some wiggle room. Short-term consequences: have to shop around for insurance, and weird trying to explain myself to people.

I did on January 18th of this year. Luckily my wife got an opportunity that affords me time to find something better. In the mean time I've been doing door dash to just bring in some extra $$$ and also to get out of the house.

Your situation maybe different but if you were like me and incredibly unhappy and can afford to be out of a job for a few weeks if not months then go for it. We only live once.

I'm extremely close to quitting my job. It pays well, the title is nice, but the culture is just toxic beyond all reason. Every day I wake up miserable.

If you are in a financial position to make moves then do so. Nothing beats peace of mind.

This is my 9th year at my job, getting burned out and dreading going there because the culture is toxic. It's great to have a stable job, especially during the pandemic but when I was out for 3+ weeks with COVID I was doing a lot of thinking.

Thank you guys for the responses, I think I'll be quitting in may then.

I just dont want to be in debt after I finish my course but with the money I have saved now I can pay off my course and all my debt at once with plenty left afterwards. Alright I'm convinced now I've been wanting to quit for over 2 years I think it's time.

Yeah. I bailed on academia. It wasn't what I thought it would be. I was making some decent bank, working on museum exhibits and consulting for documentaries.

Went freelance a few years after I got out and it's worked out fine.

Didn't quit, but turned down a boring high-paying job for something much more interesting that paid way less.

Went fine
I quit and used mental health/addiction/stress as the reason so as to get a glowing reference
Lied about what I did in the next interview. then got that job

Yes before coming back to this company I was at another toxic one for a few months. Pay was good, benefits great, including way better maternity leave. Only I knew the stress from that job was so high, I wondered if I could ever get pregnant there anyway.

I quit before lining up but we were in a good financial position and I knew I could find something fast. Had 3 offers before I went back to my old company (for way better pay).

Worth it for my mental health.
