That's entirely incorrect. Since the total amount of energy (and therefore mass) in the universe has always been the same, the individual parts that would eventually become what is at this moment me have always existed and will always exist in some form or another.

Yeah so in my mind it's a mathematic impossibility that I experience a time where I don't exist

It's almost as if I live in an entire universe that rolled the dice an infinite amount of times until I could live, and that just so happened that to be a point in time where me and billions of objects just like me exist.

If you think the vast amounts of space that exist where I don't exist, the vast amount of time, then you think of the fact that the universe itself rolled the dice for physics and landed on a perfectly tuned universe where stars could exist while allowing more advanced molecules to exist, then you realize that there is no base and there is certainly more dice rolling behind that, maybe an infinite amount

:( Think about this too hard and I freak out, everything I know is random chaos. There is no escape, jump off a cliff and you'll be alive the next second, no one knows where or what order you'll manifest as in what universe with what physics but I do know that it's true. If I die, I'll forget.

It may be that time itself is a constant across all of reality. Otherwise, you may come across a universe where you exist forever, meaning it would be mathematically impossible for anything to exist outside of that universe. The billions of conscious humans would statistically not put a dent in your odds of being born in that universe. With that assumption death is the other constant, because being immortal in another universe would make your mortal human life a relatively impossible dice roll to land on.

Being alive is not a dice roll, it's a certainty. In total chaos, anything could be created, and something that could be created would be a being that could experience itself.

Thats only assuming that there was nothing before the Big Bang

Just imagine an infinity of Big Rips going backwards where eventually the entire universe dies a heat death or ended up being down to just the black holes trying to merge for aeons before they succumbed to Hawking evaporation to trigger the next big bang in the next cycle.

I don't claim to truly grok "infinity". I get the very basics, but the fact that infinity plus infinity is still infinity is something my puny 3rd dimension consciousness can only sniff at the edges of.

people have actually worked this out.A new big bang creating a new universe should happen in 10^10^10^56 years. Whats really interesting is that is the amount of time before a new, randomly configured universe to come to exist, and its also the amount of time it would take for a unvierse identical to our own to come into existence again. The numbers we're dealign with are so huge that even if every other possible configuration happens between when ours ends and evnetually forms again, the difference between that and a single random universe emerging is lost in the rounding error.

And all of the entirety of what we know of Creation with all the laws of physics may entirely exist within a false vacuum state to begin with.

The LHC does make me nervous a bit. I don't care if they open a portal to hell, but if they fuck up and get a strangelet at random the entire universe is fucked for this cycle.

That's the optimistic view. Eternity is a very long time. Long enough for a monkey on a typewriter to reproduce Shakespeare. Long enough for the last star to burn out. Long enough for matter to reform the complex relationships that make up you. Maybe it takes a trillion years after your death. But there you are, floating in an otherwise empty universe. Freezing and suffocating.

Suppose after the monkey reproduces the complete works of Shakespeare it keeps typing. Eventually it would make a second identical set, and a third, and a fourth. Eternity is a very long time. Long enough for matter to reform the complex relationships that make up you. With all your memories intact including the last time it happened. Maybe it takes a trillion years. But how many trillions of years make up eternity.

Hell, not even a speck in Drake's equation, and past the 3rd or 4th clause it's entirely based on guesstimates that have orders of magnitude of speculation involved.
