Just FYI "Hard Mode" dungeons don't actually mean 'the same but harder' in FF14. They're actual, canonically later revisits of dungeons that feature completely new story, monsters, bosses, and you often take new routes through the place. So just because you didn't like the earlier instance of the dungeon doesn't mean anything really (conversely, sometimes the hard mode is the one that isn't as good, but that's not the case with Tam Tara).

Oh, yeah, I figured that from the quests that lead up to the them, I only put them on hold because I wanna power MSQ until I unlock the Tank and Healer I wanna play.

Just whoever I'm playing at the time, since the EXP scales, right? (or so it appears, I got 60% of an EXP bar on RDM with it last night.)

Thinking of going ahead and taking an hour or so to unlock every class at once I can get ATM to get it out of the way.

Also HMMMMMM didn't know that Fantatia Vial let you change race, too.

Might be bunny time. I like the idea of Au Ra, but even ignoring having not seen another one yet, they still seem kind of...out of place?

The Au Ra mostly star in Stormblood. You will be very happy you became an Au Ra once you meet them there.

Also, I advise you not to do leveling duties for your highest level class (the one you do the main story with). You get more than enough XP from the main story to max your level.

Yeah, I mean not being able to equip them at all would be some shit. But they tend to not be visible on Viera and Hrothgar, with some exceptions.

The stuff in that Bahamut Coil vid was great, but it commited the most dangerous sin of making me want to swap to a Lalafel instead, because God damn is the player character in that compilation adorable.

I will hold off on using the option at all for now, but it shall be in my thoughts.

Quick note so you don't get totally blindsided - all (except for like one dude) the voice actors are changed after ARR. I'm still not sure why, probably something to do with licensing. They've stayed consistent since then. I would say that the voices are generally either a sidegrade or a mild improvement, although it took me some time to get used to them.

There's also Alisaie, who has a pretty good voice performance in subsequent expansions and has maybe the worst modern dub performance I've ever heard in her scenes in ARR. She really brings the ARR average down!

There's one scene later on where a character gets up in your face to try and intimidate you. If you're a Lalafell, he has to squat down to do it and it looks ridiculous.

I must be in the minority but I think the voicework is a massive improvement post-ARR. I'm going though again on an alt right now and part of it is what I'm used to but it's rough.

I attribute this mostly to voice direction though, I know the original talent they had was largely good, but the direction makes a huge difference. Like thank fucking god they dropped the whole "all lalafels must sound like squeaky cartoon children" shit.

Also what was with that Stormblood opening, felt more like a class reveal than anything, not even close to the others!

I miss certain voices, specifically Alphinaud, Thancred, Raubahn, Yda but their replacements are still good, and I can agree agree that the Lalas are much better now, and some of the old cast had some really questionable performances.

i'm sorry, you watched videos from a future expansion and are surprised you saw spoilers?

I didn't say I was surprised to see spoilers! Thankfully there's really nothing else that really hit in any way that was noteable spoiler wise.

Alphinaud's I thought was really close to the new voice, although the old one is certainly more smug and punchable. I am certain that is due to the obvious writing choices around the character though. I guess I'm saying is the old voice actor did a really good job now that I'm absolutely certain that was the intent.

Similarly, I don't know how much of Yda's voice performance is due to the choices around that character! I do think I prefer the old one but it's hard to say for reasons.

The only new voice I thought was a major whiff was Lolorito. They made him sound like this Snidely Whiplash guy when he was so much cooler in ARR. I do miss Sam Riegel as Alphinaud a ton, but the new VA is great too.

There's two instances of those stupid cannons I can think of around where you are, which one are you doing? In one of them people tend to ignore the cannons entirely these days, in the other they're still mandatory. So I don't know how impressed I should be.

Last time I got it in a roulette we wiped three times to it (even though I thought everyone in the party knew) so it sounds like you had a better experience imo

I mean we had the side problem of our tank was (apologetically) lagging so much they had to quit even after restarting the game, so it still took 45 minutes (the replacement tank didn't join for 10 minutes), so regardless of the cannon think it was still the worst raid so far, lol.

there's also mandatory cannons in castrum abandia ? though you only need to use them a little bit.

No funnier coincidence than the victory loot music playing right as that white mage girl backs off the side of the platform to her death in Tam Tara Hard.

Ramuh is 2.3, so you've essentially done 3/5ths of the patch story. Each trial storyline is 1/5th, except the last 2/5ths are slightly beefier because there's dungeons to do as well.

Depending on your pace it's doable, though I would advise against rushing if you think it's close if only because when you hit the very end the game gives you a cutscene warning and you will legit need to set aside at least an hour to get through all of it uninterrupted. But you can probably get pretty close!

I would generally say post-game content is usually about as long as the game itself. So it'll take about as long to do post-ARR as ARR, post-Heavensward is as long as Heavensward, etc. Probably a little bit shorter for the patches, but not by a lot.
