The south gets flack for being backwards, but isn't the Midwest hardcore Republican outside of a few cities?

I live in Indiana. This town is Trumpville, USA.

We've had people advertising lawn care, plumbing, and other services have strategically placed Trump signs in their yard as a selling point. Farmers in the area have signs calling for Hillary to be locked up or making accusations about Democrats' alleged goals. One such farmer even started flying the American flag upside down after Biden was elected president.

No but that's not saying much

This. You can bump into circles of white guys that throw around the N word like nothing and are toxic to everyone around them in pretty much every way. Then you can run into groups that are fully in on equality and showing true signs of compassion for others. And it seems like there's a lot of both. I think we're not as loud as the South tho. If you have a racist neighbor in the South, you're gonna know. In the Midwest you could live next to them for 10 years and just never know because you rarely talked to them and there was nothing obvious in their yard.

Having lived in bfe midwest and the south, the midwest is more rational and friendlier than the south which isn't saying much but it's noticeable. I guess when you live in a place where the winters can literally kill you, you are forced to collaborate with your neighbors.

You always see someone helping someone else out the snow lol. You should of seen communities days for Pokemon Go during winters. Downtown there was literally people helping others get their car unstuck every block. All with smiles on their faces. I didn't get out, but the people I was with helped a few people. Im scrawny, it's not my bag.

The Midwest has A LOT of sundown towns. Jim Crow didn't just set up shop in the South, he took his show on the road. There's a sundown town in Illinois called Anna that my uncle makes a point to drive around on his way back to Chicago (really that whole county area). For the longest the acronym for Anna has been known as "Ain't No ______ Allowed", I'll let you fill in the blank.
