if you are referring to the rework of the base game's storyline, they cut out quite a bit of useless shit and made it easier for you to chug along thru it, not even counting all the QoL that has been put into the game that wasnt present at launch

however it doesnt change the fact that the base game's storyline is incredibly boring until the final act of it, and early game classes are incredibly dull to play so ymmv

I got to the end of the base game and the story really ramped up to the nines, and this is coming from someone who plays for the grind

It depends. You can easily power level without needing to buy gear. But if you can craft HQ gear, that is usually better than gear you get from dungeons for a few levels, but it usually isnt worth it unless you reach endgame/raiding where you can craft pretty powerful HQ gear with pentamelds.

Red mage healing/reviving is pretty good. You feel as if you're a DPS class with Utility as an actual healer. Whenever you're in a situation in a raid where the healers need help, you get to take charge and save the party. Especially with double revives and healings.

I personally love red mage, but the healing classes all have their own strengths. They butchered Astrologian though and I HATE what they did to its card system. Basically made it a carbon copy of what it once was.

Alright, I'll switch to crafting for now instead. I went with WHM since it's easy and I'm new to XIV healing

I think its a shame they got rid of one of the best MSQs where you sniff the chocobo

At any rate, early on I would probably upgrade gear around L30, then again around L40. You can buy tome gear at L50, 60, and 70. In between upgrades are decent at the 57,67,77 points (also I like the 57 and 67 dungeons a lot so farming them for drops isnt bad).

I just got back in a few weeks ago. Havent played since Heavensward. Having fun healing as a skanky viera. Wanna try red mage or samurai next but need to catch up on all the story.

I wanna try Red Mage too it looks crazy fun.

White mage is fun so far, and not too bad with a controller, better than I thought it would be. I kind of regret restarting because redoing the MSQ from the start is more of a slog than I thought I would be, I'm distracted but not having the best time. At least getting to where I was should only take 20 hours or so.

When you get to level 47 we can do Aurum Vale if you're on Crystal

Edit: or we can run lower lvl dungeons. Either way I want a CE party >_>

You can play across servers, but I'm not sure about data centers. Crystal was the only open one when I joined

I stopped playing after beating Elidibus. It pissed me off that they immediately followed up the conclusion of said arc with some mustache twirlingly evil ascian and I just had no desire to see them ruin one of the best storylines in the franchise. Maybe it'll get better, but I'll wait and see. It's easier to catch up anyway rather than ride the grind to the next expansion.
