I started college when it was at it's peak popularity -- GH3 came out during my freshman year, near the end iirc.

I played it a ton and it was fun enough but honestly if I could wave a wand and redo it I kinda wish Id played more other things

GH is dead with the new age of DMCAs. On Twitch people who play GH have to play it on mute or ther get copyright strikes LOL.

This post makes me sad but you probably aren't even wrong. Just a shame that a game can't be considered viable if it's not streamable, even though we played games for like 30 years without it.

oh man, i loved both GH and RB. i had the full kit and all of the games on ps3 along with dozens of DLC songs.

then i moved like 10 years ago and put it all in my crawlspace with the intent of playing it again "someday". after 10+ years of not touching anything i realized that "someday" wasn't going to happen so i gave IT ALL AWAY. kinda regret not asking for at least $100 for it all. o wel

All you'll ever "sound" like is those exact studio recordings. That will never match up to the fun of a two hour long freeform jam, and you don't need to spend thousands of dollars to get a good tone. Most people just lack the drive to stick with something that actually takes a bit of work if they're not being forced to do it.

I feel like you're on a high horse and not for a particularly good reason. Many of the "most people" you speak of undoubtedly invest time into other areas of life instead and excel. You only have so much time and energy to dedicate and only to a very limited number of endeavors. Mastering Through the Fire and the Flames on Guitar Hero has to be much easier than on a real guitar, and even if it wasn't, it's much easier to find people willing to mess around on Guitar Hero for a bit than to find people who want to play in a band
