I feel like such an idiot. Doesn't look like it's going to happen.

I drove about an hour and a half to the city she lives in. When I was pulling out to leave my house, I noticed somebody was stuck in snow. I was already running a little bit late, but I didn't want to leave this guy in the cold. So I grabbed my shovel and dug him out. It took probably about 10 or 20 minutes.

Anyway, I drove out there and I decided to try hitting up the place we were going to go to, just to make sure they weren't closed. It was a bad idea, I knew I was going to be late, but I wanted to know if they were open. Their hours say that they close at 8:00 p.m., however they were not answering their phone when I tried to call. I didn't want to find out they were closed when her and I got there, because I wouldn't have known what to do. I'm very socially awkward so she would have realized real quick that I'm horrible when it comes to making decisions, which is a bad attribute when it comes to women. So I thought checking the hours ahead of time would have been smart. but it ended up being stupid of me to do that. I don't know what the hell I was thinking.

Guess what? I texted her probably about 5 minutes ago letting her know "sorry I'm going to be late, I was helping a guy get unstuck from snow", And she responded "let's just try another day". I said "are you sure? I'm almost there" And she responded with "nope" (confusing response, as I asked "are you sure")

I'm such an idiot for not managing my time wisely. And I am a little salty that I drove an hour and a half for nothing, but I'm mostly mad at myself for not managing my time correctly. And now guess what, I'm in a totally different town and I'm not going to be meeting this girl anyway. And I probably blew my only chance of being able to meet her. Would not be surprised if she doesn't want to try again. That is why I prioritized coming out here despite the poor weather, because I knew this was a one time only chance.

So anyway. I know people are going to call me out for being an idiot. And you're definitely correct for doing so. The lesson is, don't be late for shit and do your planning ahead of time. Again, I feel like such an idiot.

Honestly Id call her personally, she might respond better to an apology if shes hearing your voice. Just explain it to her all in one go. I mean you are only late because you did a good thing (helping your neighbor get their car out of the snow).

I just told her that my planning was poor, and I don't blame her for being upset. No excuses. I offered to get her something to eat if she wanted. If she kept sending followup texts after calling you it a waste of time, it's pretty clear that she isn't all that great to begin with. On to the next.

I'm going to sound like a total toolbox, but I know she's not going to want to meet up again. If she really holds a grudge against you for it, yes. Any normal person wouldn't write someone off immediately because they didn't show up on time for a date taking place an hour and a half away the day after a big snow storm. Don't beat yourself up over it.
