I got a few of the free ones and they lack any diverse sounds. The youtube option doesn't work for me as I need a timer

Ive tried a few of them before but I think they mess with my REM cycle or something. I would always have really bizarre dreams and wake up feeling kinda stressed out whenever Id tried sleeping with them turned on

there was a thunderstorm one though that helped me hold onto my sanity years ago though when I volunteered for some medical research and would have to stay at their facility for weeks at a time

There's a thunderstorm app that would help me out. Something to pay attention to is making sure it's not just an audio signal that's looping, make sure there's some amount of randomness associated with it.
Otherwise your brain goes "there's a lighting that hits right.... now". Just a touch of random is important.

See thats the problem, I don't want the normal nature sounds. I want things like a car trip, a plane ride, a sail boat, stuff like that. Almost all of the ones I find on the app store is just nature. I find that weird as there's hundreds of videos on youtube with the stuff I want but they all go for 10-12 hours, :/

I'm partial to X-Noise, although its scope is rather focused. It's a static generator, has several selections for noise coloring and a timer.

Binaural beats and white noise works for me but I tend to just use youtube.
