Game Pass as well on both platforms. This takes us from having only half of the mainline series on these platforms to now covering almost all of it. Yakuza 6 is all that's left, and that's coming in March!

Not sure who around here needs an extra push to play these games, but it's a truly fantastic series.

5 is one of the best games in the series but yeah, it's as CHUNKY of a game as I've ever seen. Legit borders on too much content, which wasn't a concept that existed in my mind with this series before that game dropped.

Will buy eventually. Bummed to hear about the 60fps lock and blurry cutscenes, but it's not a huge surprise since these are PS3 games.

does 2-5 have any stupid long QTE cutscenes that require perfect timing to get the plats?

I don't mind long grindy games but I don't want to waste hours retrying unskippable QTE cutscenes to plat these games

playing shitty minigames for 10 hours > retrying car chase

Kiwami's car chase on Legend is very much its own... thing. Having played all the games I can't really think of anything else comparable in the series.

I just started 3 in my quest to play the series and its age is definitely apparent. I'll probably be more prone to mainlining this one because I suspect, though can't be certain, that the side content isn't as fleshed out as 0 and the Kiwami'd 1 and 2. But I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong on that.

Also I saw there are only 12 chapters in Yakuza 3 so maybe it's a shorter experience.

Ideal order for story is 0 -> K1 -> K2 -> 3 -> 4 -> 5 -> 6 -> LaD

Order of progressing game design (ie release order) is 3 -> 4 -> 5 -> 0 -> K1 -> 6 -> K2 -> LaD

Best games overall (IMO) are 0, 5, K2 and LaD (Didn't name Judgment in any of these lists since it's not mainline but it can be played at any time, came out between K2 and LaD and is also one of the best games in the series)

Speaking of progressing game design.

It is an absolute trip to go from Kiwami 2 back to 3. Just absurdly ugly in every way.

I'd strongly suggest saving Kiwami 2 for last if you haven't played it. It makes a super satisfying closer to the series as a 'standalone' and on top of that it's the most polished game design. I think if I was doing an order I'd do 0 -> K1 -> 3 -> 4 -> 5 -> 6 -> K2. Like a Dragon can be played at any point since it's very much its own thing gameplaywise.

Looks like Judgment is also coming to Series S/X, as well as PS5 and Stadia. No PC version for this one though, weirdly. Also don't think it's on Gamepass either. And also no free upgrade for PS4 owners.

But hey, better than nothing!

Glad to see Judgment coming to more platforms, but no PC version hurts. I love that game dearly and would love to replay it with all the bells and whistles. Gotta wonder if there's some sort of Stadia deal in place and it'll get a PC release further down the line. Would kinda make sense for them to not want to clutter the schedule with Y6's release next month.
