I quite enjoyed the 2 most recent films, and I saw Godzilla 2000 when I was a kid, but have never seen any of the classic movies.

Godzilla seems doofy and the movies look cheesy as fuck.
I could be wrong though.

Is it worth getting into?

I'm doing it right now. On "Godzilla Raids Again"

They didnt age the best, but they're still fun to watch.

Just dont feel bad if you have to jump around a little to keep your attention.

I loved them as a kid but I think they would be hard to go back to now

The 50s-70s films are definitely campy. 80s-90s holds up a little better IMO.

I owned so many of them when I was a kid. They are definitely very cheesy, but also very fun.

They're good if you ignore all the parts of the movies that involve humans and just skip to all the parts with Godzilla and/or other monsters doing shit

I just remember watching a few lit af and laughing at the lip syncing. Godzilla is fun no matter what...except ferris beulers godzilla.

I actually had more fun with the classic Gamera films, and some of the periphery sci fi films of the era (Battle In Outer Space and Mothra especially), than the 60s and 70s Godzilla movies.

First one is really good, sequels don't really diminish that but definitely not the same.

Honestly, I think if you watch 'Zilla as just a monster movie instead of a Godzilla movie, its perfectly decent. Its just slapping "Godzilla" onto the monster, basically for marketing purposes also ruined the movie because 'Zilla is in no way whatsoever the Godzilla people know and love.

The first Godzilla (not the American cut) is an absolute classic. Considering how recently their nation went through an unimaginable loss of life, it was cutting edge too.

Godzilla vs Monster Zero is a classic for no other reason than to hear Nick Adams say "baby" in that over confident American way.
