Kind of. I teach at a junior high school in Japan, but it's in a prefecture that currently isn't in a state of emergency.

Some of my coworkers are better than others, but as a whole people here do a great job of mitigating the risks.

We started working from home early March. I think June last year they officially said we won't be coming back until June this year. We'll see if/how that happens. A lot of people still want to wfh ~2-3 days a week and about 25% want to stay remote.
Before they decided it wouldn't be until June next year they sent out COVID rulebook and 5 masks for everyone to use one a day and hand sanitizer. Have cleaners. No more buffet lunch (just single serving to pick up). Temp checks. Spaced seating. etc. There are a few people that need equipment that go to the office. --- aka kriemhilde00 ... No
I think they go a bit too far with it, actually. Completely banned use of the kitchen/break room area, with the fridge and microwave literally duct taped shut. Like...yeah, I get that you don't want people congregating. But people mostly work from home now (including me, 75% of the time) so it'd be easy enough to just let one person use the area at a time. And where we work, the closest restaurants are like 15+ min. away (each way), so it's really fucking annoying not being able to bring in and/or heat up your own food beyond like snacks and such. When I need to go in now, I intentionally try and either get in and out in the morning quickly or wait till after I had lunch, just to maneuver around the issue. Chill out, guys... Before we went into telework status during those early weeks of the pandemic, I just used some paper towel to grab fridge handles, press microwave keys, etc... It really wasn't difficult. ... No; we're pretty good about it. Just a few co-workers, everybody sanitizes often, gets their temperature taken, not a lot of interaction during work, and so on. One co-worker's kid became ill (which in turn made them unable to come to work until the kid's test came back) but it came back negative.
