Just so you know, I voted for the last option.

Depends on a number of things. Do I like or hate them? Is anyone in danger? If they get kaught, will I somehow be pulled down with them?

Depends on the job and who the person is.

No because if they're that daring, they'll either a) eventually get caught or b) come to a hard realization they have to stop or reduce usage

If they were operating machinery or a vehicle, and my life was in danger or something I would talk to the person directly.

Other than that, its not my business.

Yes, that's a huge violation of work practices and I would undoubtedly get in trouble if I didn't report it.

if he's some office drone and this is a one-off, it's whatever

if it's something like a forklift operator, machinist, guy who has to interface with customers, yeah. Though I'd probably tell the guy to just gtfo on his own first.

option 3 but also if they aren't able to do the job effectively.

a long time ago, back when i was still in school, i stocked shelves at a Kroger and i was high for practically every single shift for years and years. i won "employee of the year" because i was such a good employee, despite being high as shit most of the time.

but at my job today there is no way i could perform at the level i am expected to even after one hit. well, maybe one hit. but im not gonna try.

We have a guy like that. We just tell him to go home and call out before the boss shows up.

Unlikely. I used to do that all the time and most coworkers did too. I was more functional when I was buzzed so they didn't give. One time they called me back to help out when it was super busy a few months after I quit and I was wasted. Since I was not an official employee and was getting paid under the table, I just had fun with it. There were college students coming in and saying how drunk they were and I was like "lol me too :D" I think I gave the wrong chnage back a bunch of times because they said that if I came back to help again, I wasn't allowed to drink. I did though, 1 other time. I was just less blatant about it and tried harder not to fuck up.

had an employee that i suspected of drinking at lunch

Couldnt prove it and tbh she was more pleasant when she was maybe drunk, so there wasnt much to be done

Then one day she took a spill and twisted her ankle coming back from lunch, which was a fucking headache to deal with

Anyways she was fired for other reasons later. she was an awful employee and very unpleasant to be around, but i hope she got the help she needed and found a job she actually liked

Anyways it depends on the job and how fucked up they are

When i worked at a cafeteria, i showed to 9/10 shifts completely blazed. Except for the one time i forgot how to open the walk in freezer door, it was totally fine. I showed up tipsy once and that was a bad idea, definitely not okay to do drunk.

But like anything with machinery, or any sort of white collar thought labor, absolutely not ok. Still wouldnt snitch unless someone could get hurt or a client could see.
