I think there's maybe two shortcuts in the entire game, give or take just plain fast-travel.

Disabling all the savepoints on half of the island, without any forewarning, is just trash.

The shortcut lock is only temporary for Story purposes. The shortcuts will open up again just before or when you get to the final dungeon

I have side missions to do, so disabling them now is still trash. Gonna see if I can go through manually and reenable 'em today.

Nice, found Pure Orichalcum randomly in the Silent Tower, the last community-clearing project needed in the game...I think. Gotta have that P.O. for Katherine's armory quest.

Side quest Spoilers for village - If you go back to Oceanus lair, you can pick up the Lombardia sign to give to Catthew for building the ship.

Gonna get some new pics off my card.

This is the move I've been spamming with Ricotta, some wide-range multihit spinner move. Ridiculous stun rate, even on giant things, so coupled with that accessory that stacks on random status effects, I've been doin' some work.


Carlan is back, baby. Not that I ever really thought he was dead.



The Great Tree is banjaxed, yo. I think it has some type of silkworms or something.



They made this 20-meter path about 1000 football fields long for some reason. Not very neighborly.



The counterpart to the one Dana fought shows up here, this time as a fireball-hurling behemoth. Still kicked its ass on the first try, but there were no mode shifts or whatever to prevent a lot of damage. That food that blocks status effects is always on the menu, though.

Dana's a warden, just like these other goofballs (and Sarai) who are immortal...or something, and have to watch all their civilizations die! Not even Groucho Marx could get into this club.




In the flashback, Eternia's lookin' pretty grim. This is what happens when you worship plants.



Got ambushed at the Valley of the Kings (formerly Seren Garden) by nine raptors or something. Pretty whack reception.



Dana commited...well, not suicide, but comacide or something. She goes to sleep in the great tree's boughs for a thousand or more years, waiting for the fated red-haired dude who wants to defy fate. The typical JRPG storyline!

Found the last castaway -- Griselda. Don't even remember her from the ship, but I guess she appeared in a previous Ys game or something. Got a few trophies for getting this far.




Tried killing this dude in the bottom of Silent Tower and got my gob smacked with four-hit punch combos that take off 1000+ damage and stuff. Which isn't to say I can't soldier through by draining tons of potions, and eating lots of "EXTRA gauge" candybars (or whatever), but this dude has three healthbars by the looks of it, so it's not to be taken lightly.



Had to kill about 8 voracious raptors as my weakling Adol, who I've neglected for weeks, while Franz off-screens his share easily. They picked the wrong lead character.



Got all recipes, I guess. I made 'em and fed 'em all to that cat monster thing on Gendarme, but he's still hungry, so I wonder what's going on.

Hmm, I've got 173 points that go toward the ending. Might need to fill in some of the missing monsters and map stuff to flesh things out more. I think I'm just missing some Dana flashback junk and the Silent Tower boss in terms of the latter, though.

I wonder if I missed opportunities to max out some villagers' reputation. I think I have a few that are still subpar, but maybe I just haven't found their baubles from one of the upcoming dungeons.

You also earn reputation points for completing the raids and hunts. Should have a large amount available by end of the game. It mentions it being endless raids, but they are not and can be completed.

Providing all the fish to Shoebill will increase your reputation with them.

Oh yeah, I have some fishing spots I never bothered doing. Got a good amount (probably 20 or so) fed to Shoebill. I think there's a raid I missed early on, too, which should be easy-peasy now that I have a lot of stuff upgraded. In fact, even the latest primordial raid was pretty easy with Ricotta's stun spin.

I want to play, but now I'm getting sidetracked with FFT! Anyone know how many more dungeons I have left? I cleared the clogged river in Dana's flashback, so now the Valley of the Kings should be improved or something. Not sure what that'll do for the interior.

I could be wrong, but I thought the clogged river gave you access to another area which had the last castaway. Nothing to do with valley of the kings. Based on your previous posts, I thought you already found the last castaway.

From what i remember, After the valley of kings dungeon you open up the last dungeon at the great tree. The last dungeon consists of 5 parts but I think your at the end of the game

Ahh, okay. I wasn't sure if the river's flow would make the VOTK more verdant or something like it was in the past.

I just looked it up, if your on chapter 6, you should only have a few hours left to go, but that is depending on if you are going for all the last side quests available.

Dealing with Seren Garden is part of the story.

I have some other RPGs to play, so I kinda just want to continue and finish.

Ever notice how much the garden looks like a typical photo of an abandoned shopping mall?

Yeah, it gives off some depressing vibes. Maybe not "a forgotten tree is the only living thing in this old strip mall" vibes, but pretty close. :P

i got it on sale with a bunch of jrpgs
i played one for an hour and then moved on to play YS8 for an hour as well
i ended up playing it for 15 hours straight which is something i havent done since high school
its a really fun game
im nearly finished it but i took a break to try the FF7 "remake"

You're playing War of the Lions, too, you mean? I've put in thousands of hours in my lifetime doing FFT, and after a 10-year break or so, I got engrossed and played for hours and hours. It's just so fun micromanaging squads and battles. I think they upgraded the max unit capacity from the PS1 version, so I might not have to kick anyone out. (Accidentally sent Boco packing...oops.)
