Finally did that sheet music quest. Not sure why anything from the old era has to fade away if Dana can just put it in a pot and use an essence seal... Also, lol @ this boss that made a shield that can only be damaged by the hammer stance. I destroyed it once, then just started sidestepping its thrusts to slice its tender underbelly.

It occurs to me that I'm going to find another 2-3 people for my village to move some landslide. Maybe rezzing this castle somehow brings back other Eternians, like my gal pals or something. I think I've got just about all the people from the Lombardia.

Got the scuba item and went back to a few places to clear out their underwater troves. Glad I remembered where they were, even if they mostly held jank. One had some defensive gauntlets with item drop amount+++ or something, so that was nice.

I like the twist with Austin where you eventually find out that despite his claims of having minimal musical talent and being god's gift to all other forms of art, he's actually a great musician and utterly terrible at everything else

Found Oceanus' nest and it's time for a final (???) assault. Of course, there's still some places left unexplored, and some castaways yet unfound, so it can't be the final final assault to get off this rock. I always wondered why no one came up with a "ride the eagles to Mordor"-type of escape plan.

Damn, didn't do anything today 'cause of the Super Bowl. Tomorrow, it's time to take on Oceanus. Probably.

Done the gift stuff? I think you can check in your journal if you have enough "points" for the ending. Iirc you have to have 400 approval or whatever they call it

After learning about slingshotting those bomb flower things, it definitely improved. Shame the Oceanus gets a free sucker punch on players each time they attack its weakpoint and ride one of those slow currents to the platforms again. Eating that food that cures a lot and nullifies status effects is pretty great, though.

It says I only have 140 reputation, lmao. I slave and slave and this is what I get. They're killing Independent Adol!!

Also saw the flashback where Eternia gets its clock (sundial) cleaned by a meteor shower. You'd think a country like this would already have some defenses in place, but naw. Everyone loves nature until it throws you a flaming, 2000-foot curveball.

Huh? Dinosaur? What's going on with that dinosaur?

This fog creeper had a bunch of freeze-related attacks and I didn't have any resistances, so this was kind of a bad matchup. I wonder if having the new light-element stance was supposed to thaw me out or something, but I didn't bother checking. At the end, Darth Vader invites me to the Valley of the Kings that no one knows about (even though kings are presumably there???) and that's the next step. Thought the next stop was going to be that old skyscraper in the east part of the island, but whatever.

I think I did all the night raids up until now. They don't show up on the bounty board, though, so it's possible I forgot. You have to talk to Dogi manually to get the available ones. To be honest, I don't care too much about the perfect ending; it just would've been nice to luck into.

I think my thing was not doing all of Danas stuff in her time, and also not constantly checking the village for quests or talking to every single person constantly. You need 200 reputation to get the true ending FYI.

Hmm, maybe I'm on track to hit 200 by the game's end. I can always go max out some other stuff, like missed Dana quests (I've done a lot of 'em + dungeon progress) and map treasures/progression.

I'm a little curious who this is. My first thought was Queen Sarai (I think her name was), but maybe it's that Io chick. Also makes me wonder why I didn't just go back further in time and put up EXTRA barriers, or even shoot the meteors out of the sky, etc. But that's probably too much proactivity for a JRPG plot to handle.

Is that how you get to the Io fight?

I figured I'd fight Io at some point, so I won't consider that a big surprise. Normal little girls don't find their way into secret dungeons and show up around ancient monoliths repeatedly.

Finally managed to get Kong to fight me in the dinosaur area. Hadn't used Hummel in ages, so his attacks were hitting like a flyswatter. I thought unlocking Kong's fights were time-based, but it must be plot-based. The last one seems like it's in the last area.

The Luminous stance does give you greater resistance to heat and cold. The sanctuary dungeon has at least one room that depends on it

This swamp might be my least-favorite location in the entire game. Even in Dana's era, it seems like trash (although not "fish jumping from swamp to attack you" bad). This paralysis-spewing dinosaur can especially die in a fire.





The fact that Dana ran away for ten minutes before we reunited was kinda odd. At least have a dungeon separating that angsty angst.

Managed to get through the swampy gauntlet to find some old temple, plus finished all Sahad walkathon, so now I can use Ricotta. Not sure if the achievements bother counting active, but AI-controlled, allies, so maybe I'll put Hummel in, too.

Now wait a minute... No one told me Ricotta could steal items from stuff, including those enemies that keep self-rezzing. This is a whole nother ballgame.

Eh well. I have Adol, Dana, Laxi and Sahad now, so it may not be too hard to do the others. Hopefully.

Oops, the Great Tree kills things to "test" people and make them "adapt". I guess that explains random meteors coming out of nowhere. I was also hoping to finish that "hunt valkyra" quest back in that annoying swamp, but it doesn't look like I can yet, since it's somewhere in the treetops. =|

Ugh, I forgot I had a beast raid to do today. Guess I should upgrade Hummel's gun since it hits like a Nerf rifle. One thing this game doesn't get enough credit for is listing what drops random items and listing all available drops. Being able to scour a map for a tree/rock/whatever and seeing "oh yeah, this drops Dragon Crest Stones" is invaluable.

Good lord, Ricotta's steal skill is amazing. If I'd known about this earlier much more for Sunlight Fangs, which was the main reason my progress slowed down so much. Just robbed one from that mist dino, haha. Also found some dragon statues in that last dungeon to rob Dragon Crest Stones from, since it's easier to get drops from monsters than it is relying on mineral deposits (etc.) to respawn.
