Buying a house with a water softener. Never had to deal with one before.
No one has live in the house for several months, so the tank is looking pretty dirty, and there is no salt in it.
So I don't know if I can just add salt, regenerate the system and be good to go, or if I need to clean/flush it all first before adding more salt.
I think my neighbor should be able to stop by and help me figure it out, or else I'll have to call somebody out and look at it.
Fun stuff.

Alright so it shouldn't be too difficult, you'll only be cleaning out the brine tank.

I bought a house that sit for 2 years and pretty sure they did little to no maintenance on the place (its a fucking money pit but the property value is increasing so its worth more then we bought it for already)

You'll disconnect all the pieces (tubing and such ((NOT THE TUBING INTO THE WATER SOFTENER ITSELF JUST THE BRINE TANK)), it's fairly simple, there will be a water level bobber and shit like that use a youtube video to help you) TBH you might not need to do this step if that equipment is in good / clean condition, but just make sure you don't run a regeneration cycle while you're cleaning it I basically just unplugged the bitch.

I scooped the water out and poured it down the drain, and at the bottom it was basically "mud", so once the water was out I scooped all that "mud " out. Cleaned it out really good. Added 3 bags of 40 lbs Bright and Soft and refilled the water with regular tap water until it was about 8-12 inches over the 120 lbs of salt.

Then you'll let it sit for about 2 hours to let that salt water get nice and briney, and then run the regeneration cycle as normal. It'll pull the water from the water heater and such as normal after that.

I think I have watched enough youtube videos to fix the issue myself, but I'll probably just pay someone to come service it this one time.
