Other than playing Sword when it came out, I haven't played through a Pokemon game in a while. also I found a Youtube channel that does Nuzlockes, and I haven't done a Nuzlocke since HG/SS were the most recent games. So I'm Nuzlocking my favorite game, White 2. usual Nuzlocke rules apply.

• must nickname all Pokemon
• can only catch first Pokemon you see in an area (can skip repeats)
• if a Pokemon faints, it dies.

I named myself Bojack and my rival Mr. PB because I've been watching Bojack Horseman again. I picked Tepig as my starter because the game gives plenty of options for Water and Grass Pokemon, but not a lot for Fire-types. I named him Burned and kicked Mr. PB's ass. But now I have to give him a Town Map for some reason, so I went to Floccesy Town, catching Cookie the Patrat on Route 19 and Crochet the Sewaddle on Route 20 in the process.

Floccesy Ranch has some good encounters for early in the game, so I was excited. But I just found a Lillipup, which is fine, I guess. Named her Ladybird. Then Mr. PB showed up and I kicked his ass again. Spent the rest of my time running around the ranch and finding the lady's dog before I had to get going.

Watch out for triple battles. There's also Rotation battles, but they're a little bit easier to deal with.

I just had Burned use Defense Curl a few times, then Tackled my way through. A crit would have killed me, so I didn't let him get under half HP. But Basic Badge got.

I was hoping to get either an Ekekid or Magnemite at the Virbank Complex, but with my luck, I found the rarest encounter there, a Koffing. Named her Jessie. With that, I'll play more later.

at least now grinding will be easier with Audino starting to appear. and Jessie's Smokescreen will let me cheese hard fights.

while fighting the trainers in Roxie's gym, Ladybird evolved into Herdier.

I sent out Jessie against Roxie's Koffing to use Smokescreen a bunch of times. Then sent out Burned to Defense Curl a bit before spamming Flame Charge through both of her Pokemon. Had a scare against Whirlipede, but he pulled through and evolved into Pignite.

ugh, I forgot I gotta go through the Pokestar Studio stuff so Roxie's dad will forget about making shitty movies and ferry me to Castelia City. guess I'll run around my favorite city in Pokemon tomorrow.

I did a hard mode nuzlocke and I paused right at Elesa's gym. Hard mode means the following extra rules:

1) you can't over level the next gym leader's strongest Pokemon, anything that does gets released, you can raise the level cap to the next respective leader as soon as you begin the fight against a leader
2) no using items in battle, hold items are fine but x items and healing items can break the game in your favor
3) Wipeout rule, if you ever have all the Pokemon in your team knocked out at once, your run ends then and there, no continuing with whatever is in your PC

My main concern is figuring out my strategy for dealing with the evasion hax, I can't depend on sleep powder or anything like that to keep them down since they can just swap into zebstrika and use that speed boost fire attack. And in nuzlockes, speed is everything. Even more in hard mode nuzlockes.

sadly I've never played Hard mode because I never knew anyone with a cleared B2 file whenever I started a new game. it's still pretty lame how they locked difficulty modes like that.

ran around Castelia City for a while, love that music. but I can't get the Eviolite until I see 40 Pokemon, which is lame. but in the sewers, I caught a Zubat (Trish)! Awesome encounter! and once I get to that grassy area in the city, I can maybe catch something that will let me switch out Cookie.

oh yeah, forgot about this cave. went in there and caught a Woobat (Hearts). meh, it's not very good.
then I went to the garden and caught Petilil (Flo), although it was very annoying.
not really sure if I want to use either of these, but I'll switch out Cookie for Flo for now.

While I was grinding my team, Crochet evolved into Swadloon, then it was already at max happiness so it evolved into Leavanny one level later. Neat.

Still working on grinding for Burgh, although I suspect it won't be a hard fight with Burned on my team.

Like I suspected, Burgh wasn't even worth mentioning when I could Flame Charge through his bugs. also Trish is a Golbat now.

My first desert encounter was Darumaka (Dorilla). Burned is putting in the work on this team, so I don't need another Fire type. I have two more chances to get a Sandile, so here's hoping.

for Elesa, I used Gary to set up Stealth Rock before switching in Kantoshrew, who took out all of her mons in 1-2 hits. I was afraid of Zebstrika, but it was never a problem. I put a weaker mon on my team in case I needed a free switch, but that wasn't necesary.

Time for Clay!

lol, I trained up Shoom, but almost lost it to one of the gym trainers. anyway...

started with Shoom, since his Krokorok used Indimidate but Shoom doesn't care. it took out both Krokorok and Sandslash fast. I kept on Giga Draining Excadrill, and Effect Spore ended up paralyzing it, which was kind of helpful. But he got an attack boost from Metal Claw and ended up KOing Shoom. I sent out Bill next. He got in a Water Pulse, but fell to one Rock Slide. But at this point, Excadrill was low on HP and paralyzed, so Crochet was able to finish the job. I lost the two Pokemon I trained up specifically for this fight, but at least Shoom went out like a champ.

I put away Gary, Kantoshrew and Jessie for this fight, so I guess I'll pull them back for now. But Chargestone Cave is coming up, so hopefully I can get a Joltik (or at least a Tynamo).
also I decied to check the Relic Passage before doing the PWT stuff, and found a Boldore (Ruby). Not a great encounter, but at least that means I won't have to waste a future encounter on it.

Now that I have Surf, I went back to Virbank City to catch a Frillish (Queenly), then to Mistralton Cave, where a Drilbur (Shovel) snuck up on me. Sadly, I found a Ferroseed in Chargestone Cave and accidentally KO'ed it. But I can still use the other two mons I found.

White 2 with restrictions is possibly one of the hardest games to Nuzlocke. But no Pokemon game is hard to Nuzlocke if you can overlevel and/or use items. That is to say, I don't think you hit the first giant hurdle? I forget specific parts but random trainer Excadrills will just fuck up your mons straight up

I started with Ruby. Swoobat attracted Ruby, but he was able to power through the love anyway.
Before the battle started, I replaced Crochet with Cookie in case I needed a safe pivot, and I used this for Skarmory. Cookie is dead. Anyway, then I switched to Queenly and used Will-o-Wisp to burn Skarmory. Then a couple of Surfs took it down.
I left in Queenly for Swanna and burned it, as well. Its Special attacks and Featherdance didn't do much, and I even got the boost from Ominous Wind. Skyla healed, but I got a crit and took her out anyway.

That wasn't too bad. Next time I play is when I'll take that plane ride.

Reversal Mountain has different encounters for outside and inside, so I decided to chance it outside since it has a better line-up. I ended up finding Skorupi (Meanae). Then I popped over to the Strange House and got a Solosis (Fiona). Both good finds, but I'll wait until I'm through the mountain to use them.

Neat, once I got through the mountain, I got 5 new Pokemon. Staryu (Ms. Starry) in Undella Town, Remoraid (Bully) in Undella Bay, Golduck (Kapp'ette) in Seaside Cave, Absol (Slash) In Route 14, and Solrock (Sol) in Route 13. eh, out of all of these, only Staryu would prbably be useful, and I don't need it right now. Queenly is doing just fine.

also had a battle with Mr. PB. I used Trish and Queenly to take him out.

I decided to swap out Crochet and Zoroark for Fiona and Meanae, since they'll both be pretty strong when they evolve soon.

new encounters are Tranquill (Plum) in Route 12, Emolga (Flika) in Village Bridge, and Zangoose (Zenon) in Route 11.
pretty meh. I tried to catch Audino in the Village Bridge to remove it from the pool, but of course I find an Emolga.
