it's not as bad as i remember it being when i left the cinemas. i was disappointed they skirted around what happened in new york and didn't expand on SHIELD/avengers initiative

but that aside, the mandarin twist was okay and Aldrich Killian turned out to be a good villain

and i respected the whole 'tony stark finds himself' discovery quest with the comedic side kid

I've never actually seen it, but I like the director's other works, like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys, so I always felt like I should give it a chance, but I never got around to it.

I don't think any setpieces beat the ant-man movies' setpieces

Iron Man has always been a shit seller when it comes to comic books. He's just important in the Marvel Universe and RDJ made him popular.

So i doubt it was the comic nerds who were the only mad ones about this

I actually like the villain plot twist, but I think the big problem I had with the movie was that the actual villain was disappointing in of itself. I like when Marvel films take some chances and try something different, but this movie just kind of falls into the "really shitty villains" stereotype that haunted many of the early MCU films. I'm glad though that the villains have gotten much better in future MCU movies though, I just really wish they stopped doing force humor so much though. That's what kind of ruined Thor Ragnarok for me (still a good movie though).

Its grown on me a little bit but I still dont think it is a good movie. It has too little Iron Man and the shitty changing of I am Iron Man to I am Iron Man (meaning the way they changed the saying from meaning that Tony Stark is a superhero named Iron Man to Tony Stark is the Iron Man) isnt an excuse. People watch these movies to see RDJ quipping and then a big robot dude blowing stuff up, not to see RDJ pretend to be a superspy.

Besides that I felt like the movie just did things for the sake of doing things. Like they gave Pepper powers just to take them away. They made a point in turning Rhodey into the Iron Patriot, something that wasnt referenced again for 5 years and even then, it was just a paint job for that.

The worst of all of that was the random decision to just have him suddenly get the surgery to remove the shrapnel from his chest. Like... what? Wasnt the whole point that it wasnt that simple? Why did he live with it for 5 years if he couldve just had it removed at any point? And then on top of that it seems they regretted having him remove the arc reactor from his chest because they gave him a constant reason to have something on his chest anyway because fans liked it. it was just incredibly stupid that they even went with it considering they danced around it for so many years.

I dont mind the Mandarin thing anymore though since were getting the real thing in Shang Chi.

The House Party Protocol is my favorite part of all the Iron Man movies. I enjoy a big variety of suits with unique purposes more than nanosuits that can do pretty much all of it at once.

I never under Why people thought it was bad. It wasnt the greatest but still far from bad.

My favorite Marvel movies are the ones where they actually let the directors inject their own distinct styles into the movie. And even though IM3 gets a lot of crap from people, what I personally really like about it is that it's a Shane Black movie through and through.
There are some things he like doing in his movies that are present in IM3. I like those few occasions where Marvel actually give the directors some kind of creative control.

That's why Guardians is still my favorite. It's just as much a James Gunn movie as it is a Marvel movie.

Tony easily had the best finishing move by encasing someone in an Iron Man suit and self destructing.

The fight scenes with his partial or lack of suit were great.

And they had legit skydivers for the airplane rescue scene. Thats an amazing filming feat, imo.

Iron Man 3 is my least favorite MCU movie and maybe the worst Marvel movie ever. I haven't seen Amazing Spiderman 2 though.

Reasons why it sucks

• Why does Iron Man rely on a shitty prototype bot that keeps fucking breaking? Elmer's glue holds better than his suit. What kind of galactic brain weapons expert is he to not have a reliable backup? Or a reliable suit in the first place?
• Why does he not have a plan for the attack he incited on his own house? He just like, lets it get blown up
• The mandarin was the most insulting thing ever. Not only is he not the badass wizard, or a badass terrorist, but he's a fucking punchline and the real one is a nerd who's petty af.
• Pepper Potts is REALLY gonna nag Tony fucking Stark that he spends too much time in the lab? This man literally saved the planet give him a fucking break it's not all about you.
• Why did Tony explode ALL his dumbass paper machet robots at the end like fireworks? He CLEARLY needs backups since his main suit in this movie is so shitty
