Beyond that, it's really too salty and greasy to use in any quality capacity as the main dish. So it's mostly just a supplement to more palatable meats and foods. It's great in that role the same way frying something in oil then throwing salt on it makes it taste better, but there's a lot more to food than just fat and salt and nitrates.
